I once saw a pick of a 2000+ maxima with a custom air intake design. He just threw out the air box and connected a cone filter. I know this works, but where did he put the sensor that sits closest to the front of the car?

Thanks.

I think you have to place that sensor somewhere near the cone intake by tying it down. It measures temperature I think.

Yes, that is the intake temperature sensor.

All you need to do is tie wrap it to your exhaust manifold. By doing that the car will sense higher intake temperatures and supply more freon to your a/c. This combined with the possibility of the computer adding more windshield washer fluid to your overflow container, add some serious HP. Oh sorry, I'm talking out of my @ss like a Honda Riceboy again!

Really though UMD_MaxSE hit it on the head. Just keep it close (within a foot or two) of the filter and you'll be okay. I chose to get rid of the intake snorkel when I removed the airbox, but many people do not do this and leave the snorkel and sensor in their stock location even though the remainder of the airbox has been removed. I guess this works fine, but I think it looks kinda silly.

Just tie wrap it somewhere close to your intake that looks somewhat unobtrusive. You don't want this sensor dangling around smacking into stuff, nor do you want it sticking out in the open too much, just for appearances sake. I don't think the car uses this sensor to make any major adjustments to the car, so I don't think its placement is that critical.

Just a final note... Be careful who you ask "Where should I stick my sensor?"!!!
