Lighting Options for a 2000 max

Without doing an HID conversion [dont want em stolen] + too expensive

Are there any bulbs that will give good range + true white light?

The yellowish stock light is weak...

Thanks for your suggestions.

good question, I've been looking for the past two days trying to find what to do with mine. I think we can get the PIAA lights and they are white, just not sure which ones. great thread though.

I have silverstars and they light up the road pretty good. Before i had PIAA
extreme whites in the fogs and headlights. In the headlights and in the fogs PIAA burned out twice, they do however shine better than silverstars but they are not as reliable.

i had piaa gt-x in my old 00 max and those were noticeably brighter than the stock bulbs. they gave off a very white light with a hint of purple in them. they didnt burn out on me but they were only in for about 4 months. HID is your best bet, they are about 200 bucks now (the piaas were almost 70, so why not). if you mount your balasts in a safe spot, i doubt theyd get stolen. Usually its the 2k2-3 lights that get stolen because people know they have HID.

ok, so how about the new H4 SUPER PLASMA GT-X? I think that purplish look would be kinda cool.

hmm... guess you answered my question before I asked it, lol, you psychic or something? lol why only in for 4 months? you go to projectors or something? ooops, new car maybe?

godlyone, you can go to http://www.ltbmotorsport.com/piaalightbulbs.html and look at the bulbs. H4 series for headlights, H3 for fogs.

I wasn't aware you could do the HID conversion on a 2000 maxima. Man, I'm struggling here, lol. Is this ez to do or does it need to be done by a professional? also, where do you get them for $200? I'd prolly do it if I could do it myself.

thanks 98, I think I'll be getting the HELIOS PLUG & PLAY KIT, 7000k. I will have to wait though.

Chops, I hardly ever use high beam anyway. I love the look of the HIDS. So many decisions though.........

I wish I could see some pics of the 7000k in a stock housing. anyone have any pics they could post?

Yeah, I have HID's in my 2k stock headlight housings, and now have no high beams. So I was looking to put some bright bulbs in the fog lights, maybe I'll try the PIAA's. The other problem I have is the HIDs flash a little when I press the turn signal??? I think this may be from the 00-01 headlight wiring harness just hooked up to the ballast, maybe the 02-03 harness would fix this?

if your gonna get HIDs you better lower your beams, it blinds others drivers. unless you wanna do a retro fit. get the PIAA GTX, i had them for my fogs and they are alittle brighter than stock. but those bulbs dont last too long.

no there not the plug and play, I am not too sure where they are from, I just bought the car about 4 weeks ago, and they were poorly rigged into the housings, so I had to do a little minor fabrication with my Dremel and some quick steel epoxy. They are D2R Osram bulbs probably 4800k and these Mitsubishi Electric ballasts.

As for the fog lights, I wasn't planning on using them around other drivers, just late at night on dark roads when you would normally use highbeams, thats why I want something really bright. (as I get older my night vison just gets worse and worse

Sorry to jack this thread, I purchased a pair of Silverstar H4s, but I can't figure out how to put it in lol! It's freezing cold outside and I have no garage to work in, so I just gave up after 3 mins of tinkering, my fingers went numbed already, couldn't find a How-To on it either.

i believe there is a Helios high/low HID kit that doesnt take away your high beam....something to look into

Maxima Exposure - you have to disconnect the harness then take the rubber boot off. there will be a metal clamp that you have to compress and then swivel away from the housings, the bulb should come right out after that if im not mistaken. if that doesnt work, try the owners manual.

I won't get into this huge argument again, but I never lowered mine (past 3 or 4 months) and I have never been flashed...they're fine and you see much better than you could ever hope for with any halogen setup...totally plug and play plus I have the hi/lo feature...check my homepage for pics
