iPod in '01 MAX
Hi guys. I have been away for a while and last time I checked there was no way to connect my 3g ipod to use the aux input on my 01 Nissan Maxima with BOSE. I would just like to know if there have been any developments, or if there is an adapter now that will allow me to connect it to the BOSE in my 01 max. Thanks everyone for your help in advance.

I have been told that only '03+ can do this. I would definitely recommend using a tape adapter instead. Just as good sound quality, and a HELLUVA lot cheaper... the guy at Best Buy told me that for all these adapters that they sell for the ipod (auxilary car kits, etc.) are not only expensive, but they shut down your stock system, thus not allowing you to play CDs and tapes, only your iPod system.
My recommendation? Go cheap w/ a cassete adapter and a cigarette lighter adapter for power... i've done it for awhile now and have found it to be just as good.
Hope this helps

I got the Airplay2 for the nano couple days ago... it took me a few hours but I finally found a station that plays clearly no matter how loud you crank it up. Problem is, I'm sure once I leave CT on a road trip, I'll lose the sound quality because that wavelenght might actually have signal in different states.
I also heard that the ipod adapters shut down your whole system if you don't install it corectly.
To be honest, I regret buying the airplay, I should have just stuck with the tape adapter, it's alot cheaper and less of a headache

Hmm. I don't know much about the Bose but I guess it has some kind of aux input (what type of connector?)
I have an aftermarket headunit -- Alpine, and the KCA-420i iPod adapter (around $100ish) and it allows me to dock the ipod mini for charging, playback and also complete control of the ipod from the headunit itself.

if you dont have an indash cd changer there is an adapter by PAC
if you have the indash cd bose HU like i do, id suggest wiring a tape adapter behind the faceplate of the headunit, it sounds pretty good and you dont have the wires coming out of your dash

IF the bose has auxilary inputs (red and white cables) you can do what I did with my aftermarket Head unit. There are cables that are for sale by belkin, monster, etc. that allow the iPod to be connected to home stereos. Basically its a cable with one end to plug into the iPod and it splits into a white and red cable, run this from where you mount the iPod to the back of the BOSE unit (where I assume the aux inputs are) and bam you're done.

I bought my wife a Transpod from DLO. She really likes it and the sound quality is CD like. It is wireless and lets you choose from any FM station. CNET rated it a top pick for 2005. You can buy it at Best Buy for around $90-100. It also charges your iPod while playing. Here's the link to the companies website if you are interested:

no modulator, wired or wireless, has cd quality. the wireless ones may sound decent in one spot but as you travel, it may get worse and youll get static, this is when you have to start surfing for stations that are more clear. tape deck is your best option if you dont want to get a new HU.

MxdOut, I was just throwin out the idea, I did not have the Bose headunit and most auxilary inputs I have ever seen have been the red and white audio channels, which if thats the case can be easily tapped into using the above described method.
Anywho....I wish this guy the best of luck.

thanks guys. I am not interested in a tape or FM modulator...
I dont have a cd-changer but have the option for it, so I do have tha ux input on the back. The pproblem is you need an adapter to enable it so I can use regular RCA jacks... All I have found is the Soundgate AUX-NISS but there are on reviews on it unfortunately.

theres a product called the neo ion or osmething where it has a chord that plugs into the cd changer socket, then to your ipod, havnt heard any reviews about it, i dont even think its been released yetbut its an option for hardwiring if you have the option to have a cd changer(which i think all maxs do). Heres there site http://mp3yourcar.com/ .

I have a iRock FM modulator, and I'll agree the quality is tempermental.

With my '03 I had to go the way of a rf transmitter because i think those cassette adapters take away from the look of the interior especially since we all spend money on our cars to improve them. The signal is great and the wires were hidden completely out of view. For fifity bucks total you can't go wrong but the after market radio i'm eying has an input just for i-pods.

Im sure your local Radio Shack has one, I have a moster cable, & some generic one, and they both work the same.
