Taillight question, please help - did search and found nothing

Hey Maxima Gurus,

got a question: I want to swap my taillights from a 2003 to a 2001. I found a guy locally willing to trade with me, but both of us have questions.

I know as far as fitment, both years are exact fit... but what about the wiring? Is it also an exact match and direct fit?

Basically we're just wondering, could we meet up in a parking lot somewhere, I take my tails out, he takes his out, we put mine in his car, and his in mine, and call it a day?

Thanks

It is a direct swap. Take the tails from the 01 INCLUDING the wire harness that goes from the plastic connector to the bulbs and it'll hook right up. Obviously, the same will apply for the other guy. The hardest part of the swap is then dealing with all the pesky sealant (its almost like gum on your shoe, but times 20). Just have one person push/pull out the tails and the other cut the "strings" of sealant with some scissors.

Just in case more people try to confuse these simple instructions...

This is a picture of the tails still connected:

You unplug the plastic connector clip and take the housing AND wire harness out of the car.

This is all that should be left in each car after you take the tail light housing and wire harness out:

And yes, you can meet up in a parking lot somewhere and do this swap in no time at all, that's what I did with AESEoulchild.

Pictures borrowed from fishouse's write-up here http://www.kevinfisher.net/web_serve...light-mod.html.
