300zx BBK questions

so ive been looking at the 300zx brake upgrade writeups and i still have a few questions.
1) why does the kit matt93se offers look so much different than the kit the jeff92se offers?
2) are cobra rotors really just rotors from a cobra mustang?
3) are cobra rotors the exact same besides the diameter(ie: is the spacing over the hub, between the actual rotor and where the wheel sits the same?)
4) i checked on my friends 300zx and i only need a 10mm spacer to fit. will it be the same if i use the cobra rotors or 6th gen rotors?
5) if i use the same wheels all year should i go for it? i found the calipers for 100 for all four.

Matts kit uses 2004 rotors
Jeffs kit uses Cobra rotors. The Cobra rotors are a bit larger.

2) are cobra rotors really just rotors from a cobra mustang?
Yes, they are.
3) are cobra rotors the exact same besides the diameter(ie: is the spacing over the hub, between the actual rotor and where the wheel sits the same?)
No, you need the ring inserts to fill the gap around the hub.
4) i checked on my friends 300zx and i only need a 10mm spacer to fit. will it be the same if i use the cobra rotors or 6th gen rotors?
That depends on your wheel design. When using the BBK's the relocation bracket moves the caliper out m ore. If you wheels spokes go out the same distance from the center to the outer then yes. If the spoke design flares inwoard then no. It all depends on the wheels.
5) if i use the same wheels all year should i go for it? i found the calipers for 100 for all four
Sure, even if you had to step down, its not to hard to go back to stock if you had to.

Cobra rotors can be found anywhere OEM or aftermarket rotors can be purchased. I recommend Automax in the Group Deal forum.

Not only will you need the rings to center the rotor, you will also need the brackets that relocate the 300z caliper outward to accomodate the larger 13" rotor.

I sell both for $90 shipped. You will also need a few extra bolts/nuts in the same strength grade as the rest of the brake hardware. Along with new brake lines. Matt93se sells what you need for a good price

I highly recommend a local fastener shop so you can get metrics and hardware that has the proper grade. (strength)

I got my cobra's for my 4th Gen from these guys:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-...spagenameZWDVW

Don't be fooled by the price these things are awesome and a bargain! Had them on for over 6months no problems and quiet.

I'm wondering if it's worth it to change the BBK kit over to my 02 5th Gen?

Will the cobra rotors fit on the stock 02 17" wheels? If not how about 6th gen 18's?
I really would like to do this mod, our stock brakes suck

Rotors? Yes. Rotors with 300z calipers? Not a chance in living hell. Both those wheels don't feature the correct offset or design to clear this bbk

That's what I figured. What other options do I have to upgrade my brakes with 5.5 gen 17's or 6th gen 18's (What I plan on getting in the near future). 6th gen brakes? ? Better rotors and pads? My rotors are warped and I've heard how had the stock brakes suck, So when I get around to fixing them I would like to upgrade. Could I upgrade to Z32 calipers with a smaller rotor without having clearance issues with the wheels I listed above?

You should pick up a set of 350Z/G35 wheels, those will clear, but it doesnt really matter what size rotor you use, 300zx calipers are really wide so it takes a lot of clearance to fit them.

The Z and G wheels are staggered though aren't they? I like being able to rotate my tires. I think staggered wheels on a FWD gay is kinda worhtless. I dunno what other options I would have though

If you get the Cobra rotors that have the stud holes drilled to Maxima specs, then you wont need the rings.

it isn't 100% necessary to buy brackets for the brakes to fit. They bolt up to the stock position, but you will need to machine the rotors to a smaller diameter. I know someone who has done this and it works fine. Personally I would only do this with some wheels as the rotor diameter is smaller than stock and looks odd if the wheels are too big or too much space between the spokes. But the added braking power seems to be worth it.

The non-turbo 300zx wheels are not staggered.

If you buy reman calipers from the parts store make sure they are rebuilt correctly. I had one that was missing the o-ring inside, and it was too long before I used it so I couldnt return it. That o-ring is not available for sale by Nissan. Also there are different calipers through the years 30mm aluminum, 26mm aluminum, and 30mm iron,

Would the brake master cylinder be necessary or really optionnal for installing the z32 calipers ?

Bump of old thead, I know but this question is relevant IMO.

All A32/33/34's that I know of use their OEM unit with this kit.

Oh and the hub rings are no longer available/needed. Now you buy rotors that are redrilled to the maxima stud size. Automax sells these here in the group deal section
