Everyone:

There is a interlock safety device in the automatic console shifter that engages whenever you press on the brakes (prevents you from shifting in and out of park without a foot on the brake).

Anyway, it has been clicking more and more as time goes on (47000 miles) to the point where it is noticiable whenever I touch the brakes.

Is there a quick and easy way to quiet this annoyance without going to the stealer?????

Same problem here. Would love to find a fix for this. I questioned dealer about it and they said it's normal. Every friggen defect I question the dealer about is "normal." gggrrrrrrr!!!!

 

But this IS normal ...

My 96 has been doing it since I got it 5 yrs ago... think of it this way, at least you'll know when the shift-lock solenoid isn't working anymore

 

Good analogy ...

 

Just play some music and problem solved.

 

But you can feel it ... pedal and shifter.
