Because the capsules cost $37 and an HID conversion cost $200...

If you are going HID in the fogs anyway... Yeah, don't bother with the capsule. But most don't want HID's in the fogs.

i've actually had capsules before, very fukin cool, but if you guys want it to be functional as in being able to see ahead with just the fogs, then HID's is the only way to go.

Its always funny to me when I think a Lexus if around and upon further investigation, its not. It looks good in the 5th gens. It looks bad in new Altimas and 6th gen Maximas.

A month ago I noticed one of my capsules had fallen off. I guess the JB Weld didn't adhere well to the reflective coating inside the foglight, so I'll have to open it up again and use more JB Weld or a different adhesive. All those damn potholes....

The other way to use the lexus capsules...

They need to warm up a bit, I was at work so I went out and took some quick pics. None the less once they do warm up they are yellow as yellow is going to get.

Irish,

In this picture, your parking lights look like they match your HID's almost perfectly. Which bulb are you using for your parking light?

I know the thread is from over a year ago, but it looks like RedlineMax doesn't carry the bulbs anymore. Is there a place that supports the forum that carries them?

Which bulbs? If you are looking for D2R/D2S ( hid ) replacement bulbs then check ou the gd section. Automax 95 sells them. Along witha a couple of other guys.

As far as the lexus capsules I'm not sure, stumbled across mine. If I'm not mistaken I think someone said you can get them from tech 1. Again, I'm not sure about that.

well since my last post above i still havent gotten any replies from hidtech.com....guess those guys are allergic to cash...luckily i saw Big_e-dog,s post and deceided to try his H3 capsules....the ones that he has have plenty of room in them for an h3 bulb to breath and im not worried about them cracking because the bulb only rests halfway in the capsule and they are built in a way to allow plenty of air to escape from the capsule so they wont overheat.. they have been in there for over a week without any problems...i run my fogs with my lights at all times and do most of my driving at night...i installed them the way everyone else has.(baking fogs)...also cant beat the prices...i ordered 2 sets of capsules, one dark yellow and another lighter yellow...cant beat the price either...im gonna order another 3 sets and have yellow fogs for life...heres a pic...i chose to install the darker yellow capsules...Big_E-Dog from this forum is the man to order these from

it's some led bulb. In person, it's actually whiter than my HIDs - kind of annoys me actually

Doubtful, but a google search should help you find a place...

Those look great - good to hear there is a reliable alternative since HIDtech seems to be tough to get a hold of.

i know that its been over a year since anyone has posted in this thread but i love the way those yellows fogs look. I had a set of the PIAA in my 4th gen and they lasted all of 3 months and were way to expensive to replace again and honestly werent any better than stock white ones.

question: does anyone still order these from Big_E-Dog?

also what is the life expectancy of these things?

B

They should last indefinitely, as long as the bulb isn't touching them. Just make sure you install them properly. One of mine came loose when the JB weld broke. Use the metal tabs to secure the capsules through holes in the back of the reflector, per the write-up.

Would you guys recommend Nokyo or Luminics? I'm in the market for yellow fogs and need advice. Oh btw I don't want to go the HID route since its kind of pricey.

Since they dont make ready cut out film for I30s, I thought just doing the bulb is easier, but I guess I'll do both.

This is a smaller glass capsule that I've used for my 4th gen. It works with stock H3 bulbs so if you're planning on using HID's, etc. then you need to find something else.

Weird. I was just thinking of playing with yellow fogs, and this thread comes to life. And look... PuppetMaster is back! What a trip.

How do these little capsules attach to the H3 bulb anyway?

open up the foglight, unscrew the bulb shroud and cut the top portion off. remove the three metal legs from the yellow capsule and secure it in the foglight under the bulbshroud.

where can i find this capsule? been searching and can't find one
