Give us more details as to what it sounds like and how loud is it.... also what RPMs, what gear, when cold or warmed up, etc etc?

lower rpms, 4k and below but i have not had it over 5k rpm in the past couple days. my car is cold becuase by the time i get to work it is just getting warm. 1-2 gears for sure, not too sure about 3rd. also it was the shell v-power. i have to turn the radio almost completely down to hear it. the higher the rpm the louder the clicking noise. hope this helps

If its that low... It could be your AC Compressor Clutch which is normal if your "defrosting" your windows... Try turning off your AC and see if the noise goes away...

this may or may not help. i have an 00' max now, but i used to have a 97 jetta GLX VR6 with a similar problem. got a substantial clicking sound during cold starts or when the weather was cold. after the car warmed up, however, the noise went away. my uncle is a mechanic, so i took it into his shop and said the clicking was most likely a bad gasket somewhere in the exhaust system or a loose exhaust component. sure enough, he looked at all the gaskets, and i had a bad header gasket. he replaced the gasket and the clicking went away.

same thing is happening to my maxima....i usually have to put radio down and open the window and i can hear it.....It sounds like the air is going through something really fast...i thought that it was intake system sucking up air because when i release the gas padel it stops making the sound....

if anyone can find a remedy for this let me know. If you buy parts to fix it tell me the part and price. I am going to put all new fasters on the engine dust shield underneath the car becuase i am missing a few. if that does not fix it i am going to check the exhaust. also, if i am sitting at a light and rev it i do not hear the clicking/tapping noise
