Feels Like Slipping!! Help Please!!
i have a 2000 GXE automatic
so i had some tranny problems and i got it replaced. ever since then it shifts weird from 1st to 2nd, it drops 1st to early and over revs, then jerks into 2nd and throws the car forward when at higher RPM's. also it feels like it is slipping, loosing power or something. so i took the car back to the tranny shop and he took the pan off and test drove it. no shavings in the pan and the tranny looks good but he noticed the problem too when driving. he said he loved the jerk from 1st to 2nd and he could not find anything wrong with the tranny. he said he could do some valve body mods to change the way the car is shifting if i wanted.
so i guess my question is if it is not the tranny, what is it, or does it sound like it is the tranny? if so do you think that the valve body mods may help?
any help is much appreciated.

If this happens in other gears it may be the cable that links the Throttle Body to the Transmission. If this cable was not adjusted correctly you would see this problem but it would happen in other gears as well. I would have the shop check the cables... that is most likely whats happened...

So in short, some of what you are experiencing might be something that is common to most of us. I would suggest taking it to a reputed tranny shop (not stealerships) and having them test ride it.

just to clarify i had it replaced at Aamco - never go to a staelership
when i say i took it back to the trany shop, it was Aamco
he looked in the tranny and he cleared it good to go
also i just replaced coils
replaced MAF about 2 years ago
need to get vb mods - what do i have him do exactly

Slipping tranny
FYI to all,
I had the same issue with the delayed & last minute jerking shift in 1-2 and 2-3 shift.
There is a Technical Service Bulletin on the 2000 & 2001 Maxima trannys for that specific problem. The problem is NOT THE TRANSMISSION itself. The culprit has in every case seen at the local dealerships been the SOLENOID PACK & VALVE BODY inside the tranny pan. The solenoid pack which controls the shifting of the gears in automatics is engaging too late and causing the symptoms.
I had both replaced at the dealer for $800 and the tranny shifts like it's new again! This model transmission should give you 150k+ miles without slippage with regular fluid exchanges (about every 30k mi). Don't spend $2k-$4k on another transmission because you think yours is going bad!! Thats $ you can use for other stuff to Max out your Max if you want...
