Front License Plates
Does anyone know if in Texas (or for any other state) front license plates are mandatory? I know laws differ in various states, but I'm getting mixed opinions from people. Some say that the front plate has to be on so that police(laser)radar has something to bounce off from.
I think the front plates disturb the smooth front appearance of the Max.

I think most states legally require them. I took mine off two weekends ago. I have it in the trunk. If a cop stops me, I'll show him how the plate holder is broken (cause it is) then I'd prolly get a fix it ticket.
No trouble so far though (other than the ugly holes left in the bumper).

I just keep my front plate tucked away between my seat and the center console and if I get pulled over, the cop will see my bumper and everything should be fine.
They are not required here in Quebec. However, since my car is actually an Ontario car it does have the front hanger. The dealer was nice enough to give me a plate that has the dealer's name on it. I am so greatfull for that.
I think I am going to go out and get a skull and crossbones or something like that. Or how about something like: !!!3VOM

There is a trend here...
In California, as in most states, front plates are mandatory. Historically, the police have never cared much, but with these new intersection cameras becoming more popular, times are changing. In fact there was an article in the LA Times yesterday about the local police setting up a check point this week and citing over 200 drivers without them. It seems to convict a driver via a intersection camera a photo of both the front plate and the driver is needed. Without a front plate, the violation must be voided, and many cities has been losing thousands because of this. In that the no-plate fine is now only $20, many motorists feel they’ll just pay it, and avoid the risk of being caught running red lights (no Maxima.org members, I trust). The state legislature, therefore, is about to pass a bill raising the fine to $271, the same for a red light moving violation. I see a national trend here, so we better be prepared to re-install those front plates as these “big brother” cameras become more popular and law enforcement interest is stimulated.
Another rule I used when I was as young as most of you, is to never give a cop a reason to pull me over for some minor thing. For he may then find something more serious, like having had a few too many beers beforehand or not wearing a seat belt, etc. That’s why I always made sure all my tail lights were functioning, a front plate was installed and everything looked legal. Why look for trouble?

"But Officer, I thought they always put plates front and back, my salesman just got out of college so I guess he didn't know."
Well this is one time I am glad I live in Arkansas. They are not required here and no one does them.
I actually bought my car two months ago and have to even put my rear tags on. I'm getting hell from everyone about not doing it but the cops haven't bothered me yet. I won't put them on because it looks so good without them and I know when I put those plates on, it won't feel like a new car anymore.
I also like the fact people stay off your butt a little more when you don't have tags. Makes them think..."Do I really want to hit a brand new car".....Good question because this b*tch would come out swinging!
