removing stripped NUT! HOW?
removing stripped NUT! HOW?
I have a stripped nut. Its the one for the FSTB. The place that installed it used too much torque and now it wont come off.
I;ve used the nut loosener, and didnt work. I've stripped 2 14mm sockets already and cracked one.
The nut is now almost round and still wont budge. It hasnt moved at all so i dont think i cross threaded it. Its just frozen!
Any suggestions?

I would use either Vise Grips as stated above OR get some Craftsman RoboGrips... they work wonders on rounded bolts... Also if you use the vise grips you can then use a rubber mallet to help "turn" the bolt once its clamped on the bolt... Hope all goes well...

ok... it was seriously stuck... i used PB many times on it and never worked. I even tried a 2 part epoxy, gluin the socket to it and it still didnt work.
What worked was i went to osh and bought the craftsman BOLT out/ NUT out tool. Its like a socket but its reverse threaded sort of and it catches like teeth. I turned it a few times and as you turn it more it bites deeper into the nut. Finally it moved a little and from there it came out no problem.
Thanks for the help, I highly recommend the craftsman tool. It took less than 10 seconds to get it out, when i spent over 2 hours on it with other tools.
