I hate the Power Window... arrrggghhh

Always had problems with it during the winter... too slow up and down (yeah yeah... i had not found the famous silicon spray to try solving this problem) but now things are worse!!

We had a drastic temperature change here in CT few days ago (from 50f to 15f) and my freaking window was frozen.

When I finally got it up and down (after breaking the ice on the weather strips by the door) it started to make some GRINDING noise. I thought it was only ice inside the motor or wherever and that once it got warm enough, noise would go away.

NO NO NO !!! it is 58F today and the window still grinding up and down!! WTF ??!!

It is like sand is grinding against the window OR the motor has some sand in it. Or at least sounds like that. It really grinds... scractches.. or however you wanna call it.

I am trying to avoid removing the panel, so anyone with suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

BB

My front windows move really slow too! I have riden in some 4th gens, and the windows moved smooth and fast. Any ideas how i can make mine faster? It seems like the window motor is straining every time.

Hi Dude,

I have the exact same issues under my post titled "Power Window Grinding Issues". If you don't mind, could you reply to this message and point to mine so we don't duplicate threads?

Mine sounds like someone dumped sand into the window area. It happened the very day it went from 57 to 6 degrees overnight here. We need a resolution before we lose the motor!

Thanks...

SAME THING HERE !!!!

Freakin weather turned into icy cold in less than few hours.... now my window that ALREADY was slow (5th gen issue i guess) it is freakin GRINDING pretty loudly.

Wheres your thread?? I need to know if u found the solution!

If nobody yet solved this thing, what i'll do is roll down window and try to clean the rubber strips and MAYBE throw some hot water in there... but i am not sure if that would damage the internals...

****, i dont really want to open the door panels just to clean this thing.... any top secret tip?

i have a 2000 maxima se and i have a similar problem On mine when i hiy the switch to let the front window go up by itself on auto, it goes up but then it comes back down half way. it only seems to do this when it is warm outside. when it is cold it does not do it. i greased the mechanism in the door and it took the sqealing away but it still goes up and down like this. Flaw with fifth generation i think

this is common to any cars with power windows, however trying to do with icy condition outside i would not try to do the windows if they are going down, you definitely can burn out the motor. as For Silicon spray as suggested in the forum is greatly encouraged to do so.

Not sure why you're having such a hard time find it. I bought a big yellow aerosol can of it in the automotive section of walmart. I don't remember the name of it but I believe its a yellow can with a black cover. Works like a charm.
