100w foglight bulb in OEM housing

Will a 100 watt foglight bulb be a problem in the OEM foglight housing? Any chances of blowing fuses and whatnot?

Yes, it will be a problem. Stock wattage is 55 I believe. You will run the chance of frying the wiring harness or cause more problems.

yes, there is a very good chance that you will fry your wiring with 100w bulbs in there...maybe not immediately, but eventually. Even a few of the guys who used 85w bulbs fried their harnesses

I'm not sure that running a 55w bulb that claims 100w output will fry your wiring. I've run 85w - 130w output and never had a problem.....

Now you should be asking "Will a 100w bulb crack my OEM foglight?" But since you have a 5th gen and not a 5.5 gen you should be fine!

If that's what he means then he should be fine. All my fog bulbs have been 55W claiming 100W output. But if he means a true 100W bulb, then it probably isn't a good idea.

The important thing is the actual wattage used in the bulb.
Output lighht wattage doesnt matter .

Those "55W of power = 100w lighting" bulbs are B.S (ahem, PIAA). No such think, unless they use a ballast (i.e. HID). Painting the bulb with a blue tint doesn't make it brighter, just makes it whiter so it "looks" brighter. It's a visual illusion and actually REDUCES visibility.

Perhaps someone needs to make a 100W-compatible harness with a relay and its own power/ground feeds straight from the battery
