Air Conditioner Recharge
Air Conditioner Recharge
On average with regular use from the four seasons, WHEN did you recharge your air conditioner on a 2000 Maxima? I know that people use different amounts of air conditioning. Just want to gauge if my depletion is "normal".
I ask because today, the air conditioner started blowing out warm air (I'm in Texas now). Hopefully I don't have a leak and it'll only need a recharge.

Where would you find this manifold gauge? and where do you hook it up to? It sounds like a nice little tool to add to my collection and have on hand as I just bought a maxi couple of months ago and not sure if the freon was ever recharged.
AC systems are closed systems and should never need a "recharge" unless you have a leak or they didn't put enough refridgerant in initially. Sometimes you have such a small leak that it takes a few years before you notice that it isn't cooling as well, and it is more economical to just get a recharge every 3 years than have them fix the small leak. Moral of the story: If you ever have to get a recharge have them put dye in your freon so that they can find the leak if it needs more freon down the road. You never know when the leak will get worse.
BTW KOMAX, why the hell are you running your ac? It's winter!
I knew somebody was going to ask that. I'm in Texas. Just moved here from Jersey. Winter here is 70's and 80's...insane. I miss snow...well not THAT much snow but you know.
Thanks for the advice. Should I go to Nissan to recharge it or any other mechanic?
