I dunno

Sometimes the org is really fast. Sometimes it's DOG SLOW. Even posting on the org on a T connection can be slow at times

On my street there is only cable modem on one side of the street(how can a cable company do that, its so fuc*ed up) and guess where i am, on the wrong side. So i use my work connection ISDN 128kbps. Its ok, not fast and not slow. At work i have T3 though(i download songs and stuff at 500kps)

They all suck around here.... Used to have a cable modem, and eventually, found out that half the people in my neighborhood use it too, so the latency SUCKED. At least I'm on a dedicated line with the DSL. ALWAYS consistent! All in all, cable is good (if you're the only donkey using it), otherwise, it can eat me!

thank to Pac Bell's DSL technology. My cable modem rules when I play Quake on line

I run a satellite and always seem to be between 600-675k, I love it.

hmm, i download songs around 50-100k usually, so i should have no problem with this site, my DSL works lovely. use to have Cable, end up being slower than my DSL currently. Also, i kan use the phone line with DSL; with Cable that wouldnt happen.

southwestern bell sucks...

i got swbell dsl last year, it was great, was getting download speeds at a consistant 150k/sec. then, at the beginning of the year, that number falls to 80k/sec. now, for the past 3 weeks, my download speed has gone above 40k/sec, its gone from 150k to 40k in less than a year, WTF! my contract is up at the end of the month, and cable is finally available in my area, so i think i'm gonna switch, my friends have cable, and they get very inconsistant downloads, but never 40k/sec. a friend of mine was downloading mp3's off napster once at over 400k/sec. good thing swbell lets you keep the modem and netcard(promotion from last year), maybe i can sell the modem and keep the netcard for when i get cable.
p.s. i called swbell to tell them that there service is "sh*t", and they told me that its due to the internet traffic. how much internet traffic is there at one in the morning?

Nope.. they are probably right, but what they won't admit to is that it is 100% THEIR FAULT.. They oversold their service!!!

You see, many people don't know that most companies won't guarantee ADSL bandwidth/latency... The popular myth is that with DSL you "own" some portion of bandwidth... YOU DO NOT!!! In fact, most of the ADSL i've run across works exactly like cable (more subscribers = slower service). Stepping up to business level SDSL (or for that matter any xDSL) with an SLA is gonna cost you $$$, but then you can be assured that you are practically guaranteed your up/down speed...

"Cable and ADSL are good until the kid nextdoor fires up Napster, and starts downloading MP3's from all around the planet" ... you get what you pay for!

Man, if you saw the connection I have at school --> just imagine a whole bunch of college students downloading mp3's over a relatively anorexic pipe... A 56k modem looks heavenly compared to the speeds I see daily on campus... If it were any slower, I'd be sending data BACK to the server... In fact, if I had to download anything more than a meg or two, it'd prolly be much fater for me to jump in my MAXIMA, speed home (or work), and download there...
