Xtec Foglight Issue - Help Please

Alrite Everyone...I need help please. I'm completely lost here. A little over a year ago, I had my OEM foglights replaced with an Aftermarket XTEC Xenon 8000K Light Kit. Everything worked great until yesterday. My front right bulb went out. I figured it was burnt out so I took it out and now there is absolutely no fog light or housing whatsoever in the front right area for the time being.

With that being said...the left foglight still works. I came home from work today....turned it on..and it still works. So I disconnected that bulb and connected the bulb from the left side that I took out to see if it was really burnt out or perhaps there was an issue with the ballast. So I turned on the fogs and nothing. I figured ok...the bulb is just burnt I can go buy a new one. WRONG.

As I reinstalled the left bulb that was working 5 minutes earlier, it now does not work at all.

So my question to everyone out there is....Anyone ever have this problem? Anyone know what the problem may be? Any advice at all? I'll tell everyone now that I never touched the bulbs with my fingers at all or put them in a dirty place...so that theory can be thrown out the window. Any advice, help, whatever you can give me...it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot.

OK How about this question....where is the FUSE for the FogLights? the Passenger side box seems to just be a bunch of blue boxed plugs. I'm assuming my issue is simply a blown fuse somewhere. Again...any help is greatly appreciated.

the fuse would make both foglights go out at the same time not one at a time.

contact Jim at apexcone. they are XTEC distributers. XTEC has a lifetime warranty for swap out. troubleshoot the problem with him.

i had a 5000K bulb which changed color after about a year and i tried to go through umnitza, (where i bought it) but Matt didn't want to hear anything about my problems. anyway, that's a whole other story.

here's Jim's number at apexcone. 760-798-1863

Jim was very helpfull. i paid a deposit to have him send me a new bulb. i installed the new bulb and it worked fine. i sent the old one back (he paid shipping) and then he refunded my deposit. as easy as that.

Ronald Reagan: "There you go again"

Didn't you figure out that we had nothing to do with your situation? Xtec quality is bad. Period. We just don't sell it. So we referred you to the distributor.

----

to the original poster, sell your product before it keeps going bad on you.

oh, great advise. he should pawn off a defective product to the next unsuspecting fool? i guess you can't help thinking like that.

i'd say it would be better to send him to apexcone so he can easily get the problem fixed as i did instead of trying to take somone else for a ride. but what do i know.

Try hitting the foglight before you turn it on to see if it's burned out. Mine often does that. I also have Xtecs and one of the lights needs a tap or 2 to get it to work.

Umnitza: So you are telling me the you knowingly sold me a bad brand that you advertised as good?

I appreciate the responses so far but here is the problem. I disconnected the lights. The initial light on the left side I disconnected because it went out one night last week. The one on the left I disconnected the following day however left it in the housing. I reconnected the light and then it never came back on. It's definitely not burned out.

You guys tell me....is it possible that just by disconnecting the light(Switch in off position) and then reconnecting the light that it can burn out?

many things could cause the bulb to burn out at any time or even the ballast to fail. what you don't know is whether or not you have a ballast problem or maybe you have a wiring problem. all these variables need to be checked.

i'll say it again. call Jim at apexcone.

you should call Jim first and if you are up to the challenge, follow his troubleshooting advise. he has run across many different problems and may suggest an apropriate way for you to find out what is actually wrong. or he might suggest you send the stuff to him for replacement. you won't know until you call.

as far as i can tell, you will more than likely need to check the output of the ballasts with a meter to see if they are working properly. then you can check the resistance across the wires of the bulbs to see if they are good or bad. i can't tell you exactly what values to look for in this troubleshooting so that's why i still suggest speaking with Jim who is much better equiped to help you.

i think you should just call him and then if you don't have any luck there, (this will not happen), post back here and maybe someone can give you more specific help.

this sounds like a wiring problem to me. have you checked for loose wires? if the wiring is fine and the bulb is acting strange, you too should call Jim at apexcone and get a replacement under warranty. you definately shouldn't need to be doing any tapping for your lights to work properly.
