moon roof

K simply put, it's not working. I can press either button (the back and forward or crack uncrack) and all it does it move about 2 inches, press EITHER again and it moves about 2 inches. I can do this till its closed. Either button does it and does it the same. If I get it close and press it again, both buttons cause it to crack open. Then crack close. It sounds pretty much electrical but what to do?

There is a reset function for our sunroofs. Push and hold the button that will open/close the rear section of the roof for about 5-10 seconds and that should reset it.

I just ran into the same problem a couple of weeks ago..

1st - Have you changed the battery or disconnected the battery lately?

In my case.. I was installing new HU so I had disconnected the battery.. when I went to open sunroof.. SAME issue..

You have to "re-learn" the sunroof controls.. If you look at your owners manual (I forget the page)

I did mine without needing the manual.. I think what I did was..

Turn Car on... slide the switch to each click and then back to the "Close" position... then on the crack button I held it for the Up position for 5 seconds and then the down position for 5 seeconds.. then keep pressing that button till it closes.. turn the car off then back on and see if that fixes it.

*I would read the owners manual though (there is probably an easier way)

If you want to perform the sunroof reset here it is:

• If the sunroof is open, press the tilting switch repeatedly toward tilt "Down" to fully close the sunroof.

• After the sunroof has closed all the way, keep pressing the tilting switch towards tilt "Down" for more then three seconds.

Thats exactly as it reads from a sunroof TSB. See if that fixes your problem.

Hold the tilt/close button for 5 seconds. It'll clear the problem up. I have to do it once every three or four months.

ARGG i cant get it to work god damnit. I cracked it so i could do exactlly what Lethal said. I pressed the "vent close" once to close it to full seal. Then I pressed it and held it for like 10 seconds, it opened though an inch as well though cause after all i just pressed it again... anyways i held it and nothing happened. I tried having it open one click, then closing and holding it instead of letting go and it still didnt do anything. this is all the vent switch too.

I dunno if it has to be disconnected for a certain ammount of time, but mine was disconnected for 30min - 1hr.. and it did that to me.. I was freaking out thinking I had done something till I read the owners manual and it mentioned that could happen when the battery is disconnected.

gland that you fixed it

It's probably different for 5.0 and 5.5 gens. Notice, everyone who suggested the relearning procedure has 5.5 gen.

The 5th gen is 2000-2001, and the 5.5 gen is 2002-2003. In 2002, they upgraded the interior (adding heated steering wheel and navigation as options, I'm not sure if the nav came out only in 03 though). They also ugraded the outside changing the tail lights and the front and also adding HIDs. I think that covers it, the engine got an upgrade too I think. Add stuff if I missed it...
