Remote Starter Kit

Looking to get a remote starter kit to go along with the stock remote. Anyone have any recommendations?

Is this hard to do? I think a bypass kit will also be needed for the alarm system? Even if I could do this will it come out looking bulky as hell?

You will need a spare key for it to work

I have the Compustar 2W900FM model with a lifetime warantee and I love it.
It's an alarm/remote start specifically made for manuals

If you have a manual like me...

The car must be in neutral and the e-brake up for the remote start system to work...when ur in the car u put up the ebrake and put it in neutral and then the system engages and you take out the key (car remains running)...once the last door is closed the car automatically turns off and locks...if at any time between then and the next time you go to remote start it, any door was opened, the car will not remote start as a safety precaution in case somebody else went in your car and left it in gear...If you have a standard this is a great option and to my knowledge it's the only remote start system that can be legally installed in a car with manual transmission.

check the ICE section.

You can get a DEI Valet that will activate remote start on double-pulse lock of the stock remote. Yes you will need a by-pass for the chip in the key.

OR

You could tap pin 44 (grn/wht) at the ECU and it wont start at all if it's in gear. Just tap that to the Nuetral Tranny Switch wire from the alarm

I have CompuStar also I highly recommend it because of the range and the ability to interface with a manual.

Yah good point but I like mine because it's also a full alarm system and it has incredible range...the factory remote sucks for range...I get a full half mile range with my Compustar setup...good if you're in a building or something because the stock remote never works from inside a bigger building or from any reasonable distance which is something you want for a remote start usually so it's warm by the time you get there...unless of course the only time you'd use it is if you're right at your house in the driveway but that's not the case for me.

Best buy has one for 160 installed. But you will pay extra for the immobilizer. Strictly remote start and keyless entry.

Im also shopping around for this remote start and manual trans solution and basically i want to make my factory keyless a full blown alarm and make it ALL operable from the factory fob. this means i want to retain my keyless entry, add remote window rolldown like the 4th gens (holding unlock button), shock sensors, sirens w/factory horn honk and remote start (holding lock button). i was confused by previous post i read because they were not thorough enough and left me in the dark. any lite would be appreciated. -P.S. sorry for thread jacking, it kinda does still fit the subject.

you might as well get an alarm system while you're at it...i was about to just get the auto start kit and use the stock remote but decided to get an alarm with it...besides, i like the soft chirp the alarm makes when i arm/disarm and the designated button for the remote start makes it easy to use.
