rims and acceleration

Right now I have 17"x7 enkei rims that are 15.2lbs each with toyo proxes 4 225/45/17 which is also around 22/bs each. I was thinking about selling these and getting the 16x7.5 300zx rims with a 225/50/16 tires. I asked the guy to weigh one rims and he said its 19lbs. Supposedly they weigh 16lbs.

Which set of rims would make my car accelerate faster?
I know on the 16" rim the moment of inertia is closer but the diamenter of the 17s and 16s will be close to the same because of the tire size. Both will have a radius of 12.9

Sure... you'll get about .2 seconds better in your quarter mile, but why bother getting rims that will look awful on your car? It seems like a waste of time and money to me, not to mention the decreased size will throw the speedo off too. Remember, this aint a top fuel dragster. If you want better acceleration get yourself headers and call it a day.

I'm thinking about buying the same enkei's you have. Was there much difference between them and stock (acceleration wise). Personally I wouldnt go smaller than 17"s

I don't think there will be any noticeable difference. It's also possible that your car will be slower than it's now.

To find out for sure, you need to know the center of rotational mass on both setups (including tires) which is very hard to find out. If it's possible, test both of them on a drag strip, if not, just keep what you got now. IMO

thanks fellas for the input.

I'll keep the enkei's.

I had the murano 18s on before and when I put on these 17s I did notice a difference in acceleration.

yeah i have the stock gle 16's but have 245/45/18's on her now. while she looks 100% better with 18's, the 16's are faster off start, much easier on my brakes; braking is so much better with the 16's, and to my surprise better in cornering. the only good performance aspect of the 18's is because i put alot of side wall with tires it is not as harsh over bumps as 16's......and of course she looks 100% better which is all i really care about....cosmetics
