I just got into my first race about a half hour ago. I was at a red light next to a integra type R. I gave him a rev and he accepted. It was a very close race and my adrenaline was pumping. I had him in every gear but he was ON MY ***. By the time I slowed down, I was doing 90 and he was about 2 car lengths behind. I was looking for some action because I had a tenzo muffler with 2.5 inch cat-back piping installed today as well as breaking a 1000 miles. I am pretty impressed with this family car.
BTW: 1) my car is completely stock except for the exaust
system (GXE steel wheels and all..)
2) I slowed down at 90 because at that point I was
starting to pull away pretty hard on him.

Good job ChaCha. Keep the steel wheels. Makes you a sleeper. LOL.

Which dash do you have?

Thanks,
It was a great rush. I have the JT aluminum kit but I am gonna replace it with the 3D dash very soon. The gap in the console must go. This was not my first race ever, this was my first race in the Maxima. Although my past cars have been modified turbos, I am still impressed with the Maximas low end torque. If I hadn't taken the integra off the line, he might have beat me.
BTW: what is the 0-60 and 1/4 mile on the Integra type R?

Heh, congrats on kickin some more Honda ***.
ChaCha, keep the steel wheels, get better tires :P
I have the 17's and upgraded my tires to 235 width, now awaiting RSB, and working on Bilstein's for my Y2K, springs undecided...yet...
I raced a stock Type R as well, but it was a close friend of mine, and we were just doggin on each other. I'd like to run up against a total stranger, just to see, but for now..enjoy the ride....

A few more details about the race:
This happened at night (65 degrees) on a 1/2 mile straightaway with no side streets on the way to my house. I had a full tank of gas, a trunk full of groceries and my kid in the back seat cheering me on. One last thing, we took off from a rolling start @ about 30mph, so the integra had time to wind up his vtec. This makes the victory all the sweeter.

"my kid in the back seat cheering me on"

I love that part.

1/4 mile of a 2000 Type-R is 14.8/96.3 according to motortrend. Their 0-60 is a _tad_ better than the maxima as well...although a good driver would make up enough that its very reasonable for the maxima to take out a Type-R, as you saw in this case.

Must have pissed that guy off losing to a family sedan hehe

The Type R has had 0-60 times of 6.2-6.5 depending on the magazine...now that is with a spectacular launch with an experianced driver(the maxima has enough torque where you don't need a good launch). Nice job though because technically the R is faster. Oh and the quarter is around 14.8 like he said above. PEACE
