My Poor baby in an accident

Yesterday I got in an accident. My poor car, surprisely it didn't substain much damage yet it gives me a sick stomache when I look at it. It is my first car accident. Some as*hole came speeding, and hit my rear right quarter on the bumper. It was a Jeep Liberty, all he got was a stratched bumper and a broken signal light, yet my bumper is bashed in with a broken side marker. I was making a left turn, and he was coming eastbound and he said I came out of nowhere, what got me worried is that I felt like it's my fault however, I knew he was speeding but not fast as I thought. At the same time, when we exchanged information and wait for the police to file a report, he said he was in a hurry if we could report it on our time. I thought sheesh, that's no excuse. What do you guys think. I'll post a pic soon.

sorry to hear that...if the guy said he was in a hurry somewhere im pretty sure you could use it to your defense if the blame does get put on you..that would mean he was going somewhere quickly, and happen to nail you on his rush.

It's unfortunate to hear that. However, if you were making a turn and entered his right of way, the mallet may come doen on you, regardless of how fast the driver was going. In my case, twice someone turned in front of me and I was paid both times.

Without a Police report, it becomes a he said, she said thing. If you both blame each other and have conflicting stories each insurance may pay their respective cars and call it a day.

I would HIGHLY suggest next time you find someone who whitnessed the incedent, and copy down their contact info. If the accident is major (over $1k in damage) call the cops. Realize that damage adds up quick. A quick estimate should be about $1k per body panel that is intact but heavily damaged, and $2k for any detached body panels. If he is in a hurry, thats all fine and well, but call the police and see what they say immediately.

Might be a good idea to throw a $5 disposable camera in your glovebox.

i think when you report him you should say that he told you he was in a hurry and told you to report it on your own time...probably why he hit you too *he was in a hurry driving his car FAST*...dont even think of telling the insurance or police that you felt like it was your fault...believe me you dont want that.

Here's the update on my car, that the insurance company said he was at fault, since he could have either slow down or stop, instead, he just clip my rear tail. How do I post my pic of my car since I couldn't figure that one out.

A friend of mine totaled his car one day when a driver made a left right in front of him. The police said it was the other driver's fault because my friend hit him in the front part of his car. The cop said that if he had hit him in the side or back of the other guys car then it would of been his fault.

I had never heard of this but it makes sense because the front of the car indicates the guy just turned and entered the intersection. The side or back indicates he had already had possession of the intersection.

Maybe you can point this out to the police and insurance companies.
