car dying on highway...dash lights on

so a couple of months ago my car briefly died on the highway, it didnt shut off or anything, but when i pressed the gas nothing would happen...then it just came to life again...but my slip light was flashing. then about 5 minutes later, TCS, ABS, Slip lights came on. this happened once before, and it was a rear ABS sensor repaired under warranty. so i finally made an appt. with Nissan for tuesday, but last night i started the car and the lights werent on, and when i tried to brake, the pedal went down quickly and i heard a grinding or metallic noise from the pedal area...okay, weird, and after a minute or 2, it was okay.

i carefully drove home and then this morning on the way to work, the brakes did their little thing again, but all the way down the highway the car was doing that dying thing, and the lights still werent on. it would die for a few seconds and then i would hit the gas and it would accelerate again. the SLIP light was blinking and then eventually all 3 lights came on again....i had to stop the car, turn it off and start it back up again, and then it seemed okay, but my drive to work wasnt long enuff at that point to test.

so what the hell is going on? im sure nissan is going to correct it tuesday, but i still got 2 days in between then that i need to drive during. im thinkin about resetting my ECU, but this is very strange and i cant imagine the car dying, or whatever, like that is related to an ABS sensor.

it could be battery or alternator or both. go to Autozone, they check them for free!

Part of your symptom sounds like a problem i had with my Max (e.g. losing power, completely, for a few seconds). Have them check your cam position sensor while you're at the dealership, sometimes the problem won't give you an error code.
