Front Sway Bar

I feel ashamed to ask this but I think my front sway bar or some other linkage may be loose...I have clunking going on on some bumps and not on others, it is very inconsistant yet happens very often. I would like to check for looseness and replace the FSB bushings.

I can not easily see what looks like a sway bar when i look under the from the front lip. Can anyone guide me, give me a link or post/ email me a pic of one.

Sorry to be two years old.

The swaybar doesn't hang under the body of the car, only the ends and links are visible, I believe. If you jack up the car you should be able to track it starting at one of your wheels. If you have a sound like you wheel is falling off it may be your FSB end links. I had this problem.

I would say it is the end links. Most folks who have had the symptoms you describe, myself included, have had to have them replaced... and at least two of us have had to have them cut off with a torch.

Yes, someone else mentioned to me that may be the problem.

What was the damage? Is it possible to fix yourself or would I be better off just having it done.

thanks for your help

The dealer just said they were broken. Rust had to do with it. My warranty covered it ($200) but I paid for an extra hour of labor due to rust.

Here's Polo's write up on the sway bar bushings replacement:

It should have some pictures that may be of use to you.

Yep I'm going to start with end links....seems to be the more common problem here. Plus I have not modified my suspension in any way so I do not think it is struts/springs or anything related to the two

if its the transverse links youre talkin about, id go right back and get reimbursed for that hour that you paid for. Nissan will pay for that extra hour if your dealrship calls it in. this was a safety recall, customer pays nothing!

Really? I have no idea about the transverse link. How do I confirm this?

What recall?

http://www.nissanusa.com/form/0,,act...-51054,00.html

It doesn't include 2000s.
