bad ignition coils?

So... after being back from deployment for a few days my Max starts throwing codes. I take it to the stealership to have it read because my friend works there and they did it for $45 instead of the usual $90 for a diagnostics. It turns out that the ignition coils are bad, the battery failed its test (erm the wife switched out my good battery for her POS one before she left -.-) and they want to redo the entire ignition coil system and charge me $1500. Isn't that a bit steep for ignition coils?

Uh, F yes it is. First off always go to Autozone, they read your codes and clear them out for free.

It's easier to do than changing spark plugs and you can order the parts from DaveB for under $400.00 last time I checked...
Is there something we're missing here?? That's way to expensive
