leather cracking on drivers seat. Options?

Hey guys. The leather on my 2001 SE is cracking on my drivers side seat. The car only has 80K miles on it, and I just paid the damn thing off. I'd like to know what my options are for having this repaired/replaced. Should I look for a seat in salvage, have a leather repair shop look at it, or just have the entire leather wrapping replaced.

Thanks in advance.

Cheapest option would probably look for junk yard seat. If that doesnt work buy a leather kit and replace all the leather in your car.

Is that a difficult task to do by yourself? Seems to me like it would be.

Wow, I don't know about replacing the leather throughout the car.

That may be fine for a guy that loves to tear into a car, but it sounds extreme for a guy like myself to do, and expensive for a shop to do.

How bad is this damage we're talking about?

It is like you stuck a pocket knife through it one time, or is the entire seat in tatters?

How is the leather in the rest of the car holding up?

If you're crumbling all around, I can see ripping it all out. But if it's just one strip of bad leather in the entire car... well I'd take it to a shop and see about getting that one strip repaired.

To each his own!

My leather seat had cracked on the left side (which actually is vinyl, real leather is in the centre of the seat). When I was looking for a local shop to fix it almost everybody was asking $350 (labor intense job) but finally I find a shop which did it for a $100 and they did excellent job . Do your research and shop around.

It's not that hard to put leather on your seats yourself. Most people on the org put there own shocks/springs on there cars so how much harder could replacing the leather be............

check at some of your local dealerships. they usually have an interior guy they use. he'll come out and repair it for you. the guy at our place only charges 50$ per rip/tear- alll shapes and sizes
