ABS Light On

Hey everyone
Just recently my ABS light came on. But it doesn't come on right away becuase what happens is when I turn the car on the light doesn't come on. It doesn't turn on until I start to accelerate the car, then it stays on until I turn the car off. This constantly happens everytime I drive the car. And just yesterday my car shut off for no reason when I put it in park. I checked the battery and the battery has full voltage. So its starting to make me believe that the alternator has gone bad, not so much of the ABS. I tried searching around on the org but I really didn't find much useful. If anyone has any clue what this could be I would really appreciate some input. Thanx in advance.

That's strange. I had my ABS light come on shortly after coilover install. I really don't know why it came on, must have been a glitch.

Check your brake lines and brake sensor wire for abnormalities.

The ABS light may be staying on due to a malfunction in the system. If you have a bad wheel speed sensor or something, it will remain lit while the car is in operation. You would need to diagnose your ABS to find out what the problem is. As far as the car cutting off. It could be a faulty camshaft positon sensor or crankshaft position sensor. Did you have the cam/crank sensor recall done on your car?

When I installed my D2's, I did not tie the ABS wire back and it was rubbing against the control arm. It wore through the insolation and it F*ed with the sensor when the then bare wire would touch the control arm and the light kept comming on and the ABS would kick in all the time when it was not slipping.

Just check the wire and make sure it looks alright. Another thing, I think for some reason when the coils start to go, the ABS sometimes comes on.

True, they could all be logical problems... but the reason i think its an alternator situation is becuase I know that when that starts to go, it kicks off certain things that is really not needed (Like ABS) so the car has enough juice to run. Also the other day I had to jump my car thinkin it was a battery situation. When I jumped it, it ran for about 5 minutes then it just completely cut off again and I needed another jump. I checked the voltage on the battery today and it was runnin at like 13.8 volts which is normal. Does this make sense at all?

Did you check the battery with the engine running? Is your battery light coming on?
