I understand where you're coming from, but don't you think that most all manufactures have some quirk or another with all their cars as well? The Acura TL's, Infiniti G35's, GS430's, all have them.........I'm sure Dodge has it's issues.

Does however seem like we have alot doesn't it? But I'm sure, Nissan is far from crap.

btw, Replaced my Blose 3 times. Since I have no more warranty, they told me to stick it. I'm not too happy with them either. It's usually Nissan service that sucks when you go in to get these issues resolved. If only they treated you better, you probably wouldn't be as mad.

Well...I have update..I went to stealership on Monday...I went in and spoke with the salesmanager. I walked in and he sat there on the phone..not even aknowlding me. It took him 20minutes to even come over and talk to me. He was like Charles...what's up...I replied "MY Blood Pressure"

He took me to the side..and i began to tell him about the bs i have had to put up w/ his stealership. Waiting on hold for 1.5hrs..than being told someone would call me back...about speaking to over 8reps..and not one could give me a straight answer. The guy didn't even appologize. Than i asked him why he didn't return any of my call. I spoke with him 2 weeks ago..and he stated he would get right back to me..

Anywayz..i started to get riled up..and he asked me to go outside and talk..and that's when **** hit the fan...I told him that it's bs..that i purchased a new car..and i am without a radio..for over a month..He stated he mailed the radio out 1 full week after i was there..he was like it's policy..to hold onto device..before shipping it out..I was like BS..

He was like..hold on..i sat waiting for nearly 1/2hr..before he came back..he said that he spoke w/ his service manager who stated that it will be back by this thurs/friday. I told him..and what if it does not come back..he was like we will deal with it at that point. Once again my blood pressure rose..and i was like this is suck BS..and this F*ken Stealership (my exact words) has taken my money...and now..don't care about my business. he was like..It will be back by thurs..i will call you..etc..i told him..that by monday..he better have some good news or my lawyer would be by the next time.

I told him that under lemon law..i can force you to take back this car..he was like..lemon law is not for used cars..Once again..my blood pressure rose..and i started yelling at him..he was like calm..down..we will have it done..

Well long story short..still don't have my radio..no straight answers on when it will be back..and that it may be back by this tomm/friday..but no gaurantee.

I am ready to walk in w/ my lawyer..and contact the BB about the shadyness of the dealership..

plz help me with my BOSE

I'm new and can't post a new thread, so please help me with my BOSE issue.

I had the common left-side speakers cutting-out problem. I found instructions on this site for fixing the bad cable.

I risked all and took apart my stereo and "fixed" the problem. To my pleasant surprise, I got the sound back on the left-side speakers....

BUT.....

Now the player skips- all the time. Not on bumps, but at random times. It seems like it skips much more on the last few tracks of CDs.

Maybe I misaligned the laser or something? Has anyone had this happen to them?

Its a 2002 GLE, BTW.

Thanks!

I use a cassette adapter as well. I can't say the sound quality is great, but it's decent enough, and it's cheaper than replacing the whole unit. I actually snaked the cord INSIDE the faceplate and down thru the center console (cupholders) so you can't see the wire. THe cassette stays in the headunit ALL the time, and you can jus barely see the cord in the cassette guide. I like to deter theft as much as possible!

My CD player skips when it's cold - acutally it doesn't skip, it just doesn't PLAY at all! ~doesn't like HUMIDITY either.

CD-R's work fine in mine, but not CD-RW's. I wish it played MP3's -- that'd be better than 6 discs.
eventually I will replace this dinosaur with an aftermarket that plays MP3's and has a DIRECT AUX audio input for my MP3 player....that will rid me of this piece 'o crap BLOSE system once and for all.

Has anyone come up with any other real solution to this other than replaceing the HU, using an ipod, or going to the stealership? Does slowing burn speed or a particular type of CD-R work better than others? If so, what are they? If no one knows, this Bose unit is gone next week.

I use cd-r's all the time in my factory head unit. Now if you are burning CD's what program are you using, if it's nero lower the speed to say 24x or maybe even 16x, if that dosent work is it a matter of your HU skipping if that the case look into the "fix" that you can do a search on that topic. If that fails, yeah get rid of the HU. I am chucking my girls bose HU and giving her mines and buying a new radio.

scared the hell out of me when i first bought the car, its not like im in the right climate, the temp dips below 0 Farenheit all the time. In the cold its awful barely works. Ive been using CD-R's and tried at even a 1X burning rate, its still hit or miss, ive tried diff brands too. Thank god im installing the Harmon Kardon Drive+Play system in a matter of days. I would otherwise change the HU if i was sticking with CD's

I haven't had a problem playing burned cds, my HU skips very occasionally, from what I've seen, it's better than other maximas. My acura 3.2TL-S has a Bose system and it's never skipped on me, ever. I also have an Ipod and I'm considering getting the fm transmitter, but it kills the battery of the ipod..the reason I don't want the tape adapter is b/c i drive stick and I think the wires could get annoying..I was also told the FM transmitter puts out good quality - is this true?

I've never heard ANYTHING good about the output of an FM modulator. I hear it can BE worse sound quality than a CASS adaptor, but I have no experience. See my earlier post: I too have a 6spd, and you're right - the wire IS annoying if you don't HIDE it behind the console. This is as simple as removing the H/U and Faceplate of the h/u and snaking the wire from the cassette adaptor down thru the console to the cupholders. I can literally leave my wire AND MP3 player in the cupholder and close the lid when I park the car! Nobody is the wiser!
I got REALLY tired of disconnecting my MP3 player and stowing the wire EACH and EVERY time I got out of the car. I was so annoying that I only used my mp3 on long drives! Now, I just leave it in the car ALL the time! It rocks, especially since my CD player rarely works in the cold weather, and I HATE HATE HATE the radio!
Good CHEAP mod until the H/U gets replaced.

I dont know about 2002 but 00max's have a perfectly good cd player as long as you use regular 16x 740mb cd-r's or of course regular cd's.

It is a decent headunit when it works. On my second one, (bought the car with 41k, but problemed headunit was taken care of by dealership) and sensing problems again. Skipping, cutting out here and there. Going to be getting a AVIC-D3 once it is released.

Cd Changer sux

I have a 2002 Se with the 6 disc changer. My dad bought the car used in florida and had the cd skipping problem so he took it to the dealership and they replaced it because it was under warranty. Then he sold the car to me here in NC. Well the new one does the same thing. It is horrible when its cold after like 30 minutes it plays ok but pretty much just can not use the cd player after first starting the car. This goes for any burned or store bought cds and putting a warm cd in doesn't seem to help - I'm guessing the laser gets moisture on it from a sh**ty design.

I would like to replace the head unit but the darn thing is so big and it would leave me with controls on my steering wheel that are useless. I think they knew it sucked and therefore put in the tape deck.

Anyone installed aftermarket HU that still looks good? Would love to see some pictures.

I installed an Alpine HU that looks pretty good. However, I also changed out my guage bulbs to blue LEDs and have a blue LED radar detector that sits above it, so it all matches. Not sure if it would look as good with everything else stock... I'm still trying to get my hands on a decent enough camera to take pictures...

i know everything has been stated about the skipping aspect, but what about the pick-up lense in the bose or the condensation that might be on the cd that was left in the cd player while the car was hot then now has sat overnight and went thru a heat exchange. when something hot or warm comes into contact with a colder surface by product condensation. I have had it happen to me on aftermarket cd changers and players. either dont leave the cd in the player, get remote start, or dont leave the cd in the player/changer overnight. This may work , but might not

If you really like your Bose radio and don't mind spending a little money to fix it there is a place in Orlando FL that fixed my old radio and gave me a 2 yr warranty. I paid a little over $300 dollars (way less than buying new and getting it installed) but it was worth it, I had put an 03 Pathfinder radio in my 97 SE, it had the in dash 6 pack cd changer. The radio at first would skip so I cleaned my cd's then when I was reloading them it got stuck after the 3rd loaded disk so I pulled it out and sent it to them. Total down time was 9 days. Btw: I'm one of the few guys who still plays tapes so I like the system, plus to me the aftermarket systems don't fully match the center stack in the car, unless you get a DVD player.

My 03 bose HU does not skip cd, play cd-r fine and I live in montreal so climate is pretty cold here for about 5 months(currently -2F at 1030pm). I suppose I'm luccky with this one.
I fact the only problem I have with the cold is the cassette player that does not like it at all when it is around 0 degreesF or below. Switch side a couple of times then eject the cassette with a tape Err message . I use the tape player for my MP3 cassette adapter, when it works (most of the time) Sound is pretty decent when I use it with my ipod shuffle

Its because if you have your rear defroster on your have a Satalite Antenna and the Defroster will interfer with it.

im looking at buying an 02 maxima. only issue the seller says that the car has is the driver's side speaker goes in and out sometimes. knowing bose, i would say its the power amp losing amplification, but im sure several of you have experienced this. is it a speaker or head unit problem? simple to fix, or expensive to replace?

antenna and lasers are totally unrelated issues. sometimes youll absorb more of the radio waves than your car if your car has a week antenna...or maybe several cars around you.

seems like all bose head units have the ****ty, problematic lasers. i ditched mine fore a 50 dollar pioneer...sounds better, too. its all about those speakers...at least on the 3rd gen.
