help... engine acting weirly

k... here is the story...
it's been a few times when i first start up the car, it chocks...(the rpm gauge looks very constant on 750 but i can feel is reving up and down a little, and frequency is pretty fast) then i shift it into D and drive, car goes up and down for a few seconds then it feels normal again.... it does not happen very often... maybe ones every 2 weeks or more....

today i gave it a full throttle (a high school kid with a ford escort is massing around on the traffic light) i thought i can walk away from him easily... guess what he kapt up... i can't walk away from him because after it shift into the second gear, the engine's rpm drop back to 3000rpm...then rev up again... (normally 4000-4500 if i remember correctly)

i can feel there is a problem coming up... but i don't know what that is...
anyone had the same problem before? is it MAF? i don't think it's coil...
and i had an 02 replace 7000km ago.... and i am using 0w-30 syntatic oil(i don't think engine oil will make that much difference) my car has 47000km on it... drop an "injen CAI" last sept... i don't think it's that problem too because it wasn't like that until recently...

help guys.... really lost here....any info would be greate..

The Escort prob kept up with you because of your Injen...

It is most likely your MAF going out on you, as said before get a new one and throw it in yourself.

im woundering y u are using 0w-30 oil? guessing it must be due to the weather in BC?

anyway, its unlikely that the problem is coils. is the acceleration problem consistant or comes and goes? first check that all intake hoses are connected and make sure there is no vacume leaks. so that being said, i would agree witha bove and say its most likely the MAF.

Did the Escort have stickers or decals on it? Everyone knows stickers add HP.

thanx alot i'll order a maf from Dave as soon as i get da money~(just got a 1 G ram for my labtop^^)

oh ya for da 0w-30 question... i've searched around and realized there is a good and cheap oil from Esso called XD-3 and people said it's a good oil for all year round... so i just giving it a try... didn't notice any difference from Mobil 1, i think i'll continue use it on my max and my mom's TL after they both finish AutoRX...
