Key Fob- Windows- WTF?
Key Fob- Windows- WTF?
I've had my 2000 maxima since may... and this has always bothered me... but I've just never asked. Please don't flame if this is a repost... but my dads fourth gen, and another girl that I know with a fourth gen, if you hold unlock, the front windows roll down. I've been told that they do that on a 6th gen too... Are they supposed to on my car... and don't? Or is it ALL fifth gens? If that's the case... what was Nissan thinking!

no. seriously, id guesstimate that about 10% of vehicle owners read the manual.
ive had soooo many cars come in with crap like 'my rearview mirror is dark all the time'
and theyve got a parking pass/handicap placard hanging from the rearview blocking the sensor.
The auto windows are nice on a hot day if you want to let some of the heat escape from the car before you go out there and burn yourself on the leather, but they're not useful for much else. I would only use it if I'm preparing to enter the car (to release heat before I get there).
The problem is that you can only roll them DOWN with the key fob. You can't roll them back up at all unless you get in the car, put in the key, and use the window controls on the door. If you hold the button down long enough to start the windows down, but you accidentally roll them down too far, you have to walk back to the car to roll them up a bit.
That may sound like a stupid gripe, but maybe my Maxima's key fob is just retarded. It's not excessively hard, but it isn't really easy to control how much you roll the windows down with the key fob.

That has bothered me as well if they can make them go down why cant they make them go up.

KP Technologies 2 pulse lock button on the keyfob for window rollup, FTW! Module was like 60 bucks when it came out. 3 wires to connect to in the door, and done. when i was trying to promote this, no one was interest.

Pretty cool, but a little pricey. Might get this done someday. Wish the sunroof could be controlled too... ah well.

Get an aftermarket alarm, and add the power window control module. I had a Viper on my '95 and it was a great feature. I could roll the windows up or down with the remote, and when I armed it, the windows would automatically roll up if they would happen to be down. Yeah, Nissan always eliminates a cool feature and then later brings it back in their later years.
