SES - P1320, New coils or what?

I checked the stickies, but it didn't tell me anything I don't already know.

P1320 - Ignition system or misfire

Car is running great though.

Should I just reset the ECU and hope the light stays off or take it to the dealer.

If the light just came on and the car runs fine it's probably something temporary like low quality gas or water somehow got through the air filter. I'd clear the codes and drive it for a couple weeks, then check for codes again.

If it's been like that for a while, most likely it's the coils, but it could be almost anything, anything related to either ignition system, air induction system or fuel system. For instance, I'm getting the same code because of my dirty injectors...

Cool thanks. It just came on yesterday afternoon. I'll clear it tonight and keep my fingers crossed.

one more thing, the codes do not always trigger SES light, so check for codes even if the light will not be coming on.

I unpluged my + battery terminal overnight. The light went out for a bit, but it came back on later this afternoon.

Same gas in the tank?

If you still have the same gas in the tank this may be causing a mis-fire. Clear the code after you put new gas in the car, then see if it still comes on.

Have the coils ever been replaced?

Oh alright. Yeah it came back on when I was on my way to fill up.

Yes, the coils were replaced about 3 1/2 years ago.

Well, I stated in the first post that the car is running great, but I just noticed some gurggling sound from my exhaust at idle and when driving. I'll have to check under the car tomorrow.

Well after unplugging the battery again, it came back on today when I started the car after I put air in my tire at the Speedway.

What should I do?

Also that gurggling sound from the exhaust only happens at idle and lower rpms. It goes away above 4k or around there. I'm about to crawl under after the car cools down.

EDIT: I went under and didn't see anything unusual, but I did see alot of rust.
Well, the sound definately seems to be coming from the muffler. I think my Cattman is dying.

It should be the coils. I had p1320 awhile back and had 2 coils changed. The CEL went away after that. So that should be your best bet.

I just got back from Murray's (instead of Autozone) to check the SEL again and I got 3 codes. The first two are from 1320 and the 3rd one is cylinder 6 misfire. So, maybe that's why my exhaust sounds funny? He told me to check my spark plugs, so I'm about to do that. If not, it's probalby the coils like Phil said.

I got a 1320. Car ran fine for a while THEN my coils went.

Yours are probably going too. If they were changed 3 years ago, they prob weren't changed with the updated ones.

I got a P1320 yesterday when I started my car. The motor was misfiring and sounded like it was running on five cylinders. I drove my other car for the day and when I returned home, I tried the Maxima again. The engine ran fine so I erased the code with my OBD2 machine and will continue to drive it until it goes on again.

I'll keep you posted.

Cool thanks for the info guys. I think I'll order 1 ignition coil from DaveB or I'll check the classifieds.

Yeah, I checked and I have the old packs without the grey dot. So, I'll have to order 6.
