Feels like driving in the wind

I've been having some unsual problems with my car.

-2 months ago, started hearing wobbling noises from the front
-Took car in 1.5 months ago, dealer replaced passenger wheel bearing & hub after I showed them light grinding noise when turning the wheel. Car seemed much tighter, but still had wobbling noise. I also still heard the light grinding noise from the suspension when turning the wheel and driving.
-Went to tireshop, told them to rebalance my bald tires. Since i had tire warranty, they gave me 40% credit towards new tires and I put the same Pirelli p6's on. When driving, my car feels like its driving in the wind, randomly wobbling. Most of the time the car is fine, but sometimes it randomly wobbles enough to annoy me.
-2 weeks ago, went and had car realigned. It was barely out of alignment, but this didn't change anything
-This weekend had new tires rebalanced. I said I would come back in a week if I still had problems.

Not sure who to go after now. My wheel bearing was repalced under nissan's security plus warranty. They are supposedly a good dealer, but they charged me a lot to service my brakes.

Just called the dealer. They are going to look at it.

interested to hear your solution. When you say wobble do you mean like left and right on the road? I think i have that same problem.

I know I have that same problem, if it's not one thing it's another. Might have something to do with the tie-end rods and/or sway bar bushings. There's a thread within the first two pages with deep suspension talk. I'll have to look for the thread.

It is also possible that you may have an issue with one of the wheels itself (ie - not being perfectly round). Most tire shops can inspect your wheel for damage or flaws.

Same problem here. I've had the wheel rebalanced several times, no help. I've checked wheel bearings, they're fine. My car only has 62k on it, so I'm sure it's nothing major. But, I do have a strange squeak/clunk coming from the front passenger side when I drive into dips in the road (only noticeable when going slow).

Basically, the car just feels unstable on the highway. Could this be a strut?

(Sorry to threadjack... )

i had the same problem after i had my suspension work done which includes my inner and outer tie rods end on both sides so i had my mechanic look at it again and we found out the the in the bearing so i just decided the change the control arm on both side and ever since no more wobble

#$@#$, i typed out a reply and this computer lost it.

fishpony, yeah thats it...left-right wobble. Nothing felt through the steering wheel

Deckdout2, thanks. I had left the car at the dealer and they couldn't find anything wrong. I'll look for that thread.

SEmy2K2go, thanks. I'll check that next.

TheBigDu, its probably a strut. When I took the tech for a test drive in my car and I pointed out that noise while going over bumps. He said is my strut and he would just replace my pass side one if I wanted him to under my warranty. I declined since its only 1 strut nissan would pay for and not all. He said as long as it doesn't happen while driving normally on the road, im good.

The manager at discount tire told me he has no problem replacing my tires. I think this is what I'll do next after checking the wheels. I went with the same pirelli p6's since my old ones wore out at 34k miles and I got $40 per tire credit. I drive about 70 miles a day for this client I work at, so I figured by the time these tires wear out, I would be driving less and could put higher perf tires on. This wobble annoys me. I'll go with a more expensive tire if it means ridding myself of this issue.

What do you guys suggest?

Pirelli P6 Four Seasons - 50k mileage warranty (replacing all tires with the same?)
Yokohama YK420 - no mileage warranty
Yokohama YK520 - 60k mileage warranty
Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus - 40k mileage warranty
Michelin Energy MXV4 XSE - no mileage warranty
Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S - 45k mileage warranty

Thanks

Upgraded to Bridgestone RE960as tires. Lets see how these do.

Just realized both of my front struts are making noise. Might have nissan replace those if having new struts up front and old ones in the rear wont throw off any balance.

There is still some tracking with the re960 tires. Maybe my old tires were bald and sucked so much that they never did it...I dunno. But these bridgestones...man...they take everything I throw at them. They keep talking to me and tell me to turn faster, brake harder, etc...

I'm going to the dealer tomorrow to replace an alternator. Will I throw off any balance if I have them replace both front struts under warranty? Car is at 68.6k miles and the knocking noise is annoying.
