Need Advice on Purchasing 02 6Spd

I am interested in 2002/3 SE 6-speed. I found this one locally its in great condition from what I see and after test drive. They want $14,976 (final price) it has 47,379 mile is it worth that price and how do I tell if it has HLSD?
Thanks for the advice

That's a fair deal, not spectacular though. I'd take the deal if it was $14K out the door.

I just paid 14,7 for mine with 45,000 miles. 02 SE, 6 speed. I think its a decent deal but not a fantastic deal.

Why does the ad say 13,988?

If its a florida car you better check, double check and triple check for flood damage. A buddy of mine lives there and he refuses to buy a car from FL. He said its amazing the extent people go to in order to cover up damage. Assuming the car hasn't been wrecked is in good shape and is 13,988 I'd be ALL over it.

LSD = Limited Slip Differential, makes both front tires spin equally instead of just one.

I would like to know how to tell if it has it as well because I just bought my 02 and I dunno.

BTW that one in the add has cloth interior. Mine was fully loaded except nav and I paid 14,7. So 14,9 seems a bit high given the options.

RE: advice

I have an 02 SE and it has LSD and I have black pedals. I am not sure how to check visually for the LSD. I suggest launching the car aggressively so that you spin the tires. If you have a lot of torque steer it does not have LSD. You should be able to feel the LSD spinning both tires.

1. There are many threads on here about "Looking into buying an 02-03, what do I need to know?". Please read around a bit.

2. There are also many threads about how to tell if your car has HLSD. Pop the hood and look at the transaxle code on the firewall. If it ends in "H" the car has HLSD and if it ends in "A" it does not.

Not if the previous owner replaced the pedals with aluminium ones. Check the transaxle code.

Not really. HLSD transfers power to the wheel with most traction, so in some conditions one will be spinning more than the other.

What does your transaxle code say?

H = Hellical? (sp)

Limited Slip on my TA simply presses the clutch together in the diff if more than 70ft/lbs is applied and spins both tires equally, are you sure it will send to whichever tire has the most traction?

On these cars, yes, I'm sure.

Some useful links for HLSD and limited slip info in general:

I LOVE that color. I think you could get it for less than 15 since it doesn't have all the options. How do you know it has HLSD?
