H3 white fog light recommendations 2k2?

Hey guys, When I picked up my car in January both of my fog lenses were cracked so I replaced them and clear film covered the new lens ( so far no cracking! ), in the process one of the bulbs died (no I didn't touch the glass, don't know what happened). They matched the white light of the HID's nicely but I don't know what brand they were and I can't reach the former owner. The standard replacements suck ( too yellowish) anyone recommend an affordable white H3 to match the HID's. Anything on ebay? Thanks!

Stay stock. All those aftermarket bulbs suck and blow to easy. I had piaa and they blew to fast. And changing bulbs are a pita so i got some stock bulbs and they last forever....

Yeah but the color sucks, IMO changing them is a piece of cake, 2 cents

Ive had PIAA Super Plasma GT-X in for over a year now and Im happy with them. Got them at LTBmotorsports for a pretty good deal. One burned out on me since it got wet from a cracked fog lights lens and they sent me new ones no prob. They werent cheap....~$63 shipped, but I over all happy with the product and service from LTBmotorsports. Good luck with your find.

That site will give you a pretty good list of different brands of H3 bulbs that will work. You can buy there or search around a bit to try to find better prices if you desire.

Since 5.5 gens put out about 4300K, you should be safe choosing a bulb in the 4K to 5K range imho.

Hope this helps.

edit: Forgot to suggest Silvania Silverstars as an option. They typically can be found at some of the major automotive parts chains such as AutoZone.

Thanks for the info, acutally I tried the Eurolite XB Series H3, but they were no less yellow than stock! , thats why I'm looking for recommendations as the "buy and try" method could get very costly

Unfortunately you will be getting mixed reviews for each and every brand of bulb (stock aside), with regards to both color and lifetime expectancy. There are countless threads here with pics and details on experiences with pretty much all of them. You can also do a search on the web to find various picture comparisons. Point being, if you are looking for a definitive "get this exact H3 bulb for the ultimate HID match" response, I highly doubt you will get it here. I just posted the link because it seems to have the largest collection of brands for you to research on and decide for yourself.

On a side note, if you do happen to read through all of the foglight bulb replacement threads here (heh, good luck), I have found that PIAAs, MTECs, Polargs, and Silverstars seem to be among the most popular.

Make sure you get the 55w bulbs.

55w is our stock bulb wattage and you don't want to go any higher, or lower I guess... The wiring harness is meant for the 55w bulbs and anything higher might burn out that harness.

Thanks I saw a super cheap deal on some PIAA xtreme white's (35w) I guess I got caught up in the deal and forgot we ran 55w stock, thanks for the info.

Any one have pics with the MTEC's? They are def much cheaper.

Andrew, I had PIAA super plasma (non GTX) in my fogs last year...they matched the stock HIDs very nicely....they never blew on me either, although I did end up getting a crack in my fog....but I believe know what happened....I use to drive with the fogs in the rain alot...I'm thinking one day I accidently hit a big puddle while the fog lesne was REAL hot....then crack....ever since then, I don't drive with my fogs in heavy rain, and never had a problem....

They run about $45 shipped on ebay for some Super Plasma GTX H3....I dont believe they sell the older non GTX models....but they should be the samme (marketing gimmick)....matches stock hids nicely!

Thanks Andrew, Interesting info on the cracked fogs, we get a helluva lot of rain here, but I did cover my new fogs with a clear 3m film so we'll see how they hold up. ( in the rain!!!)

I can't believe Nissan did not forsee this problem , Don't the HID bulbs run cooler? wouldn't this help the problem?

Anyone actually using MTEC's and can verify they are as white? Or close enough to our hid white, cus they are certainly a lot cheaper!

i loved the piaa plasma's as they looked really good with my hids. i ran them ALL the time even at dusk, just cause i think they look so good with just fogs (have the fog rewire to go on with out headlights) and they last about a yeasr before they go. i know the stock last a long time but can't stomach the color nor the every year bulb change so i've decided to go with hid fog kit. it's in the mail now so we'll see how it looks when it arrives....hope it looks sick as i payed 265 for them.....oh and it better last!!!! lolololol

I have the PIAA Super Plasma GTXs and they look really pink compared to my HIDs...I hate them, but paid a lot for them and am waiting for them to go out so I can get some new ones. Extreme Whites are better?

extreme whites are more yellow, plasma's i'd say have more purple hues with blue as the dominant color imho. they do not match hids exactly but are the closer of the 2. again, but they blow so quickly so if you are that much of a fog light enthusiast go with h3 mini hid fog kit. mine is in the mail and i'll let everyone know how they work out when they come. i got them from maximabest in group buy section from helios with life time warranty. heard nothing but good things about lights but my opinion of seller........

And scroll down to see my old "MTEC" fogs. I've had many pairs of MTECs on my car and friends' cars, the car matches Piaa Xtreme White, and is little more white too. The pair on the I35 were knockoff MTECs, but looked exactly the same color wise as the real ones. MTECs on eBay come with a lifetime warranty btw.

Hey n3985 thanks for the info , I think I'm going to give the MTEC's a try as they are less than half the price of PIAA's, noticed there are a few kinds, I'm looking for something to match the HIDS as close as possible, so would you recommend the "super white 2X racing":

Or the "Cosmos Blue Xenon"

I'm thinking the Super White's.

Also thanks jafo2com your link to automotivelightingUSA was helpful and it turns out they sell their lights on ebay cheaper, the Super whites are there's.

Just installed the Eaglites in my car--was easier than I thought it was going to be. Got a 4100K rated kit. To me they didn't look like the headlights but then again I had them on during the day. Hope to see a difference at nite. Good luck finding some that match the HIDs.

i dont think any white bulb is going to match the lights except HIDs, they come close, but not really. i ussed to have PIAA super plasma GTX, suppose to be 6k. it was white, but compared to the headlights, its was still a lil yellow and dim. so i just went with yellow bulbs. you can also get the yellow capsules.

does anyone have a picture with the silverstars? I'm looking to get a set of 9005 for the high beams, and some H3 for the fogs. Also i am wondering how long they usually last, i noticed with the silverstars in my 98 maxima didnt seem to last all that long.
