What a rip!!!

1. I just got back from Gankston Nissan in Dallas b/c I needed to get some new exhaust gaskets and bolts to prepare for my y-pipe swap. The ****ers wanted 102.00 for 4 gaskets and the bolts (8)! Holy CRAP. I expected to pay $25-$35 for everything. I told them to forget the bolts and just give me the gaskets. $42.00 total. Never going back to those guys...

2. I asked them if they do timing advance there and the guy asked if I was planning on unhooking the battery to do the swap. I told him I probably would considering the O2/Simulator issue. He said if he does it and then I unhook the battery, it would reset the ECM and go back to default timing. Does that sound right? He also said it would be 1 hr. labor @ $90.00!!
OUCH. F those guys!!

Any help or feedback would be appreciated.

Wow. I just bought gaskets last week for my rear muffler. It was only $5.00 ea. from the dealer. I bought 2 to keep one for a spare. I also bought two bolts for the connection of the two flanges. My total only came to $13.00 and some change. Man, that dealer was ripping you off. For the gaskets, you are talking about the "crush-ring" type, right? I think they work best for sealing any leaks. The bolts are inexpensive. You can buy these at an local hardware store. Did that dealer actually know what you were looking for? I know some guys that work in the parts department don't know what they are doing and look at the wrong part numbers. They don't go that extra yard to break down the schematics of the part sheets.

im not so sure about the 17 degree timing resetting when you disconnect the battery. i had it done before i swapped my oem battery for an optima battery and i havent felt a difference. therefore im assuming it didnt reset my ECU timing settings....i could be wrong tho..

anyone have any insight on this issue with advanced timing??

The guy looked up the schematics and I pointed out the ones I needed on it. They are the crush ring type. Does anyone know where to get timing adjusted for a good price around Dallas? I walked away from the stealership disgusted.
