Not really until 60K but since you are thinking about it you might as well. I recommend AMSOIL ATF. Ask almost any .orger they will tell ya the same.

I changed my fluid at about 52K. I noticed way smoother shifting with AMSOIL. My 2 cents.

I thought Nissan recomends every 30,000-35,000. By the way, you posted in the wrong section.

Depends on when it was changed last (unless it was changed around 16K miles, which I doubt). Yeah, Nissan recommends every 30K or so. The more mileage added on the car, it's highly recommended for a flush as well.

I drain and fill mine with Mobil1 (~1 qt, i.e. 4 liters) every 20K and I'm running an oil-cooler too...

In the manual of my car (Maxima, 2001, VQ30DE) it is mentioned: To change ATF after 40K km or once in 2 years.

So would I have to convert my trans to synthetic like I would have to do for engine oil?

And the shops like "Jiffy Lube" suppose to change it for you, right? Do they choose their own fluid, or you can buy your own???

Buy your own and change it yourself. It is Really easy. It's just like changing your oil, minus the filter.

If you drive hard, then it is better to change it more often. I change mine every 5 oil changes.
