Right.

Inquiries on your credit are bad when your history is checked for the puprose of a new load, credit line increase, etc...

I think insurance has more to do w/ where you live than what type of car you drive. In Philly 52% of the drivers don't have insurance. So we have to pay for all of that in our policies. I live 20 miles outside Philly and my rates are high because it's considered a suburb of Philly.

My 2K Maxima and my 06 Sienna cost about the same to insure ($900/yr each). $900 seems normal but I'm 33 w/ a good good driving record. Plus I use NJM which is a not for profit insurance company.

Wow. Sounds like a good deal man. I just got a 2002 SE and need to buy some insurance. What company do you get if from? I got Farmers on my other car and those suckers rip me off. I would love to pay the amount you are paying. Please get back to me.

$1600 a year. -3 speeding - 1 accident - $1000 deductible - Iowa

My 99 Denali 4 wheel drive was much cheaper. I'm not sure why but my insurance company said my Denali was an 11 and my Maxima was a 19. (The higher the # the more expensive to cover you.) I think all of us 5th gen guys are getting screwed from the HIDS.

While shopping make sure to call some small insurance companies. Often times the "middle man" has a list of 15 different insurance companies and will put his info in and tell you which is the cheapest. (Typically cheaper than Geico, American Family, Progressive, State Farm, etc.) The only one that came close was AAA because they offer an extra 5% off for having road side assistance.

FYI: This is irrevelant when shopping for insurance. Anything 10 and under (or under 10 depending) doesn't count for squat in any state that I've lived in.

My parents 2 cars (dad drives volvo s60 turbo and mom drives some grand caravan) are like 140 together a month and we talked to the insurance people (usaa) and they said for right now mine is like 230 a month, but I turn 21 in 3 months and it will go down almost $100. Something else that was interesting that brought down the cost a tad bit was they wanted to know if the car had some little grey stickers in the corners of each of the windows and mind did so I was guessing that had something to do with safety wise but I just thought it was kind of interesting because I would never even have taken a second look at the sticker

That is a great rate! What kind of Coverage? Full?

The determining factors are:
Coverage,
Driving record,
Age,
Credit rating,
Location.

There is a different from being legal, and having good coverage.

switching from Geico to Allstate due to relocation in mid May (IN to ATL). $650/6month on a 100,000/300,000 policy w/ 1,000 ded. for full coverage.

21 yr old single male driver, 0 tickets, 0 accidents. 5 mile drive to work. Average to above average credit.

Other places quoted me far more than that. Progressive wanted 1300! But I definitely agree that location and distance to work has a lot to do with it... oh yeah, and don't forget ... AGE!

p.s. males are 95% more likely to pay more than females, especially at the under age 30 bracket. Can't tell you how much they pound these facts into our heads in finance class.

I was looking at buying a Maxima and have it narrowed down to two identical '02 Maxima's except one is 6sp manual and the other is auto... I was told I'd probably have to go with the auto because insurance is much cheaper on the auto... anyone know if that's true and if it is a big difference or not?

I just renewed my policy and the total is $760 for the year. I paid the whole thing off since with monthy payments I would end up paying a little bit more because of processing fees etc. I have MetLife by the way.

I've never been in an accident and got full coverage with Allstate. I don't know how much it is since I'm covered under my dad's insurance and he pays for it =0 But I think I remember him saying something like 90 a month.

Insurance on the 5.5 gens is always gonna be pricey compared to other sedans due to the Xenons, it doesn't matter where in the country you live. My wife's Explorer's collision drops like a rock year-to-year, but the Max stays sky-high.

I pay $90 a month through Geico, but that includes the Camaro also.
Full coverage on the Maxima w/$250 deductible and only basic liablity on the Camaro. I'd never put in a claim if I wrecked it anyway. And book value isn't anywhere near what I have into it.
