how did the car run in the last few miles before filling up? any performance difference or anything noticeable?

I have been running premium fuel since I bought my Max and from what I can tell, by running premium fuel, you will get more miles to the gallon. So for the extra $3-4 per fillup, chances are you are actually going farther on a tank of gas. All in all, if you calculated the miles per tankful, premium fuel pays for itself.
Why not treat your max to the better fuel. It will pay off in the long run.

I was pretty nervous though since the gas needle was basically resting on the stopper under the E.
I don't recommend this practice btw.....I just make a habit of pushing everything to the limit.

That little DTE feature is nice but not that big of a deal. Most all newer cars have it that are above base model. The manufacturers definitely leave a margin of error. When it reads 0 there is still something left in there. Imagine how pissed people would be if it said DTE 1 mile and they ran out of gas onthe side of the road!
