electronic motor mounts(auto)

So i posted this in the infinity section, but there was little action there and I know the cars are practically the same. Here goes:

So I drive a 5spd 2k max and a friend of my dad drives an infinity 2k i30. He brought his car in to the dealer and they replaced his electronic motor mounts. Now they are telling him they have to manually reset his computer by removing his dash and doing it, it will cost roughly $1k, because his car is making this vibrating noise. They told him that his mounts are stuck in the drive setting and are not changing to the park or any other setting. I told him to let me take a look. When I was inspecting it, it looks like his radiator shroud is what is making a racket of a noise. We are going to replace it, because its not very expensive to repalce the shroud. Is the dealer giving him bs about the motor mount being stuck in the drive setting and not changing. Can he possibly just disconnect his neg battery terminal and reset the computer, for some reason they told him they couldn't do it with the computer. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Also, when comparing mine to his, my radiator shroud has little to no play and I have no vibration sound, while his shroud has alot of play and is causing the vibrating, no doubt in my mind. The noise starts when the fans turn on and stops when the fans turn off.
