450 miles + 2 laps around Nelson Ledges raceway = 27 mpg
From this thread, I was able to get 450 miles out of my tank including 2 laps around Nelson Ledges road course and some misc backwoods driving. Drafted my buddy's race trailer averaging about 62-63 mph all the way from Columbus to Garrettsville which was about 2:45 hrs. Drove around the backwoods of that area for 3 days and drove back yesterday doing mainly 80 mph keeping up with a newer 3 series and Lincoln LS. Filled up this morning with 450 miles on the tank. 16.555 gallons = 27.1 mpg.

i'm right around the corner with that gas milage...
I did the following before i filled up with shell V-power 91 here in colorado
deepcreep stuff in the pvc valve
replaced pvc valve
oil change to 5w30 synthetics (15,000 mile extended version) mobile 1
bosch oil filter
replaced air filter (K n N filter)
GAB mod coat hanger style
I have 389 on my mileage marker and i just barely hit the 1/4 line on my car
I wanna see if that hydro-gen cannister deal that was posted a few days ago will get me more mileage as well as a timming advance (2 degrees). I'll probably pick that sucker up at the end of this month.

I'm with you tim. I do a ton of highway driving during the week, close to 1000 miles. I like to keep it under 2500rpm MOST of the time. I only have that berk intake and run between 26-28mpg.
edit:
I've been using that 15k Mobil 1 5w30 also, this is my second batch of it, looks good so far.

Not bad. About two weeks ago I went from Cincinnati to Knoxville with the cruise set at 80 and pulled a (calculated, not trip computer) 29 mpg.
Of course, though, I didn't do any hard driving like I'm sure you did at the raceway and through the backwoods.

guys, basic math: 28 mpg x 18 gallon gas tank = 504 miles. the extra .5 gallon in the gas tank is for emergencies. if you run from completely full, till you stall your car on the higway, you could probably get around 525 miles out of it. for those that think it's outrageous, this is higway driving on cruise control. if you constantly accelerate and brake, your milage will suffer.

BTW, five speeds are at 3k rpms at 72 mph. At 80mph, we see 3.2-3.3k rpms. I wish I had that Altima fifth gear...
On my second to last trip, I got 29.xx mpg setting cruise at 75-80mph IIRC, with about an hour of driving btwn 50-65 mph (raining HARD that day, and hydroplaning).
This was all done using at least 91 octane, and on a fully maintained engine (literally every single maintanence aspect has been taken care of). Oh, I also have a few exhaust leaks, if that would make a difference.
When I drive my car these days, it's almost all highway going from NY to CT (about 700+ miles round trip), or to Canada (my most recent trip).

ive done many road courses in my turbo SE-R but nelson was too far so i took my max. nelson is by far my fav road course. the max did VERY well, although the power steering was BOILING in the resovior! goin back again in sept with my ser boys, but i think im taking my ser, max is too floaty, but hitting 100+ was EASY. i didnt let off from 9 to 11 and man it was fun!
