SES came and went = o2 sensor
Hey,
I threw a code last week, and found out that it was an O2 sensor (high voltage). A day later the light went out by itself, and when I checked at Autozone the second time, no code. Should I ignore or be worried?
thanks,
g

if you have no light or code you should be ok.
after something triggers the light, the ECU checks the next few times the car is started. if it doesnt get the error again it realized it was a mistake and resets everything.
now if the light go off there might still be a code stored so its best to check after the light goes off

It's my understanding that an error code is just an error code. It doesn't mean that a part, in your case an o2 sensor, is bad. It typically does indicate something is malfunctioning, but not always. If something feels amiss in the way the car performs I would check it out then. Hope that helps.

Mine came and went once (first time ever@ 30k) and I finally took it to the stealer under warranty -- turned-out to be the o2 sensor....go figure.
It just came back on again @ 42475 mi exactly.
I SWEAR it's programmed to do this in the ECU if you don't service your car at the dealership - which I don't.
I'm going to drive this beotch with the light on until it chokes or my gas mileage gets worse or something.
Friggin' Nissan -- I know damn well they program the ECU to throw a code like that JUST to get me inot the stealer for their "regular" servicings. Fuggin' rip-off....

Thanks for the input.
Mine came on at 136000, yes 1 hundred thirty six, and then went out almost immediately. I will monitor regullarly. Hoping to get another 80K out of my baby.
PS....used the Mr. Clean AutoDry Car Wash System last weekend, and this stuff is the bomb. The mist worked like a friggen champ. My 00 SE is superblack and had no spots what so ever when it dried.

I would just keep an eye on it. My SES came came and went for over a month. Three trips to Autozone all showed bad o2 sensor. After SES was off for a week I just assumed that it was fine. Well, it wasn't so. SES came back on for fourth time in a month. I finally just went and bought the Bosch replacement. Took me 15 minutes to install the sensor. Then I brought it back to the zone and had them clear the code. That was a year ago and SES hasn't come back since.
