Is this a sort of rattle only when the compressor is engagued?

I've noticed this since day one and was always kind of annoyed by it. Im pretty sure it is the Comp. pulley because that is the area the sound is comming from and it only happens with the climate control on.

no, i rarely use A/C and that annoying "squeel" (<-- sorry for spelling) is only present at startup and goes away as the car reaches normal operating temperature.

Maybe it's time for a belt change or adjustment.

Just replace the belt. They make belt dressing that you spray on the belt to make it quieter. It works breifly and when it comes time to change the belts that dressing makes the belts sticky and you'll make a mess changing the belts.
