My max and Lexus...

I myself have a max but we also own a lexus ES 330... I drove it today and it seemed to make my car feel so slow i wanted to cry... lol I dont no if this is normal but my car is incredibly slow like ive mentioned before. My light has went off... What could be the problem for this? VIAS?

could be a bunch of things....vias, maf, bad 02 sensors.

it's probably bad 02 sensors, since vias only affects top end (+5k rpm) and with a bad maf, the car runs incredibly bad.

Yes but es 330s are really slow so I would say bad maf too

I think there's quite a bit of information we're not getting here. For example, when your SES light appeared, did you do anything about it?

We're just a bit confused, and some of us drunk (Josh).

I had an exhaust leak and I got that fixed... Maybe 2 weeks after the light turned off. Sorry for my post earlier I was in a rush an dit didnt make sense. I posted in the other thread I found and Its very similar to my problem. My Maxima Is Incredibly slow... Like Flooring it feels like barely touching the gas in other cars. I drove my ES 330 and it felt incredibly fast compared to my max. My max revs hard, just stays in high rpms for a bit and theres no power at all. Maybe I could record a short clip of my Dash while I gun it to show you how horrible it is. The car is drivable... but its not fast... I suppose its the MAF, most likely...

Ok so its not staying in High RPMS but look how slow the accel is... Now dont tell me this is normal or I might have to get rid of the max

i dont find anything wrong with that. we have 222 hp with a v6.
the es 330 has a 3.3L vs our 3.0L so it should be slightly faster. Only slightly.

If you think our maximas are slow, you should buy a car with a bigger engine like a Mercedes SLR or even a motorcycle like the hayabusa

That does seem kinda off though, maybe i'm just used to faster revving since i have a 5 spd but was that floored? I thought the autos shifted themselves at 6k- my friend has a 4th gen auto and it runs to redline a little faster than that.

Wow, that is pretty weak.

The tranny slipping issue seems pretty plausable.

You were flooring it in both vids? That did look awfully slow as your tach climbed to 40. By the time you reached 40MPH from 20MPH, I'd have been doing roughly 60. That just looked painfully slow to me.

Also, if you were flooring it, the fact that your car shifted just past 5000RPM both times suggests a dead VIAS. My car comes just within redline in 1st gear and jolts into 2nd gear as it shifts.

Check my edit. The best thing you can do now is go to AutoZone immeditely and get your SES light checked out for the code. It's free. So go. Now.

System lean means the MAF is bad.

It looks like my Maxima gets 0 to 80MPH faster than yours gets up to 50MPH punching it from 20MPH. It looks INCREDIBLY slow, I don't know bout you but I would not even wanna drive a car that is THAT slow.... here is what it should run like...
http://home.comcast.net/~93ser/0218061036.3g2 - QuickTime only I belive.

Having blown 5 MAFs already and knowing Maximas from inside out... I can vouch for a bad MAF. I belive they cost like 104 bux new now, I paid bout 80 bux for mine over a year ago when mine got soaked in water in a heavy downpour of rain- it fried out. The newer MAFs are fairly strong and I haven't had any issues with my last 2 MAFs other than the water getting on the 1st one. The 1st 3 MAFs where bad, 2 of them only lasted a few months, and one lasted 3 days :P Parts department at the Nissan dealer I used to work for used to keep them in stock JUST for me as I kept on going through them like nothing else. Back 4 years ago the MAF was only 54 bux, and some local dealer wanted to rip me off for 549 bux... I buy ALL my stuff for cars I work on and drive, at one dealer only.

i wonder if MAF will help me with my power loss from 3.5k rpm to 4k rpm...
and maximvice - you can get your timing adv. at a nissan dealer, cause' tu need this special tool "consult 2"......there are whole bunch of threads on adv. timing...but u should def. do it, it'll help with throttle response....

Hmmm... Is there a write up how to install the MAF? I heard it was easy but im no the mechanic type. How much would it cost if the dealer or a shop did it?
