MAF dying today... :(

I left work and car was fine..about 5 mins later the acceleration became sluggish and a little surging/lurching. had this problem in my 2K so im 99% sure its the MAF. i have a berk intake with dry apexi filter...but my question is will the car just die eventually? I have a lot of traveling to do this weekend..the car runs fine just slower. i have been driving very easy as I do not want to create another problem. I called nissan dealers and none can get me in when i am available so i have to wait till next week (its under warranty) so do you think the car is going to crap out on me?

i was afraid of the same problem... so i went out and bought me the maf sensor clean made by crc... fookin alot of crud build-up etc... try cleaning it... might do some good... won't hurt to try ... and if it fixes it... beats payin 100+ for a new maf sensor...

if the maf goes, your revs will be limited to around 2.5k rpms. if you are sure its the maf, then i would replace it either with a 3.5 one or use the cheaper 3.0 maf and move the iat sensor from the 3.5 maf. cleaning it might help if the maf was getting odd readings but it obviously will not bring back a dead part.

its a little better today...but between 7 and 8 seconds to 60 where usually im getting about 6.5....highway you have to gun it to get it to get going...half to 3/4 throttle doeesnt do much. its under warranty though so im gonna try that first. if not, do the 2k1 MAF and the sensor from my current MAF. Thanks for the info.

when my maf died the car still started...at times it cuts off on its own...as long as u not worried about gas prices (cause gas mileage is significantly shot with a really bad MAF) then i think you'll be ok....it may shut off on its own from time to time but if you are MT, u can just push start while u still moving . Good luck, i hear them things are crazy dough for the 5.5 gens, good thing u have warranty

I just replaced my MAF at 60k. The car was lagging at low RPMs. It was like a powerband on a dirtbike. For $106 @ my local dealer I now have smooth acceleration and the car is back to normal. Its worth the time to make them put in a New MAF.
