Bose/Radio issues

Two issues with my 2002 SE that is all stock. I'll be driving, listening to my stereo with no issues then out of nowhere the volume increases to a extremely high sound, usually when I apply the brakes. I'll spin the volume down and it just stays at the blaring level. I haven't seen anything recently on this type of issue? Any thoughts on this? Do you think it's a short somewhere? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Secondly I've also lost use of my radio/trip controls on the left side of my steering wheel. I've read posts on it with lots of different ideas & options does anyone have a clear cut choice to the best way to solve this issue?

Thanks for your help.

I'm actually having the same problem with my 02 where the volume increases by itself when I brake. It happens at random. I know the 02s have a feature where the volume increases with the speed of the car. Maybe the functionality is all wacked out and not working right

Theres a TSB if your bose unit cuts out on the left side. I'm not too sure if this applies but I might take it to the dealer to see what they say. http://maxima.theowensfamily.com/tsb/NTB03-017.pdf
