Alright just a post to make sure I'm not missing anything
My brakes have been crap lately and this is an excuse to do a brake upgrade that was needed the day this car was made. I knew the brakes were getting weak but I didnt know how bad they were because I have a hard time remembering what they were like when I first got the car, but when my buddy (who usually drives a chevy 3500) said the brakes sucked... I knew it was time to do some serious work. So here we are.
I have an 02 I35 and I am going to be putting 6th gen calipers and Rotors up front.
I am just double checkin if I need anything else. This is the list I have so far of things I need
ss brake lines (85$ from group deal on the org)
Brake fluid (15$ from the same group deal)
New rear rotors blanks (around 75$)
6th gen calipers (should be able to get both front calipers used for under 100$)
6th gen front rotors (also should be around 75$)
Hawk HPS Pads (dont know how much these are, where can I get them for a good price, I would need 6th gen pads for the front and 5th gen pads for the rear)
So for around $450 I should be putting together a ghetto BBK. Anyone here do road racing with this setup? How tough is it really? I am going to be pulling the car down from triple digit speeds pretty often and I need the brakes to be up to the task.
Thanks guys

Also, If you guys know of any writeups on how to do the 6th gen calipers/rotors swap and any tips on how to bleed the brakes a little easier (I hear its a *****) it would be greatly appreciated
I may be wrong because I havent looked into this subject that much yet, but Im 90% sure you're going to need a relocation bracket for the calipers. I believe matt blehm sells them. Someone correct me if Im wrong.

Thats what I thought too... but then I read that the 6th gen rotors and calipers BOLT RIGHT UP to the 5.5gens. Its the 5th gens that need the relocation brackets. Please correct me if I'm wrong
this site looks good for Hawk Pads. It's FREE shipping for orders over $100, + there is a $10 off code (FP08010). I've searched for about 3 weeks and it was driving me crazy
, this is the best deal I have found for the pads.

How bout ebay

55$ for all 4 hawk hps 6th gen pads. If I can use the 6th gen rear pads on the 5.5 gen rear calipers than I would be all set.
I dont believe you can use the 6th gen rear pads on the rears of a 5.5 gen. If you get rotors delivered, the shipping cost is probably going to put you over $75/pair. RTP rotors in the GD section cost a bit more, but are nice quality, check them out. Also, if you get used 6th gen rotors, it wouldnt be a bad idea to clean out the guide pins and re-lube them to insure non-sticking calipers. It would also be a good time to clean your rear calipers also. buybrakes.com is pretty good, but thepartsbin.com offers free shipping. delivery was pretty quick for me. Youre gonna need the shim kit for the front brakes, it'll run you about $23 from Dave B, he'll know exactly what youre talking about. Also, make sure to apply "anti-squeal" between the back of the pads and the shims. Pick up a cheap brake bleed kit at the parts store, dont get the $25 one...the $5-6 one is fine. Even better, if you have a rubber tube that can fit snuggly on the bleed screw and a coke bottle, that'll do. To get the front rotors off easily, Id suggest getting a bolt that is 4" x 1/2" with matching nut and washer. Once you get the caliper off, you will see a smallhole on the inside face to insert the bolt into. It pops the rotor right off. The rear uses a smaller bolt size, but can be removed just as easily. Purchase a tube of Anti-seize for the bolts to help out when doing future brake work. A can of liquid wrench may save some time and sweat. Dont forget to bed them in ASAP. Also, if this doesnt make any sense, pay the donation fee and start searching....TONS of stuff will pop up. PM me for specifics. Good luck.
