I just bought a brand new OEM wheel bearing from Infiniti. I ended up buying a whole new spindle from a dismantler because my screwed up wheel bearing totally screwed up my hub so much so that the new wheel bearing slips in and out of the hub effortlessly.

If you want it, PM me.

i hate having an install done and later the same year it acts up again...i learned my lesson. If i cant do it myself or too lazy to do it myself, get it professionally done and make sure you installer purchases part so it has warranty. I know they normally give 3 months which would suck but maybe mileage will save you? how many miles do they give u for warranty?

That's weird. Take it back to the shop and tell them to fix it. You paid them to fix it and it wasn't fixed so they need to follow through.

its my front passenger side, i did ask about the warranty, but i didnt ask how long, its really weired because the noise is gone now, im praying that it wont come back, but im afraid that it will. im gonna jack the car and shake the wheel just to make sure. the sound is like something is on your wheels and you hear it grinding, like shik, shik, shik, kind of noise. almost sounds like your pads are stuck or something.

is this shik shik shik noise more high pitched? as in a rubber duckie squeaking?

under what conditions do you hear this noise? straight line drving? only on turns? etc...

definitely jack up the car and wiggle the wheels

Wheel bearings are covered under the powertrain warranty (5yr), I found this out after I paid for one at my local mechanic shop but got the other side done under warranty at the dealer.

It depends on the dealership. I tried and they said powertrain is only limited to the engine. Lucky dogs who got them bearings fixed under the powertrain warranty.

Your car will make a clunking noise when you turn at slow speeds.

It is not dependent on the dealership. It is clearly in the warranty terms. It is absolutely covered under the powertrain warranty.

Noise appears when driving...

- bad wheel bearing = ...straight line and turns

Other problems that sound like a bad wheel bearing.
- worn bump stop caps = ...turns
- loose axle nut = ...turns
- dry drive axle spline = ...turns/ straight line when wet (noise get louder when streets are wet)

I don't understand your question, I didn't dream it! I took it to the dealership with a wheel bearing noise and when I picked it up the noise was gone and the bill said replaced front passenger side wheel bearing with a part # and the price was "N/C". I don't know how else to explain it better. Powertrain includes what makes the wheels drive ( aka drivetrain/powertrain) such as axles and bearings.

Thanks SEturner. I was able to dig up my warranty booklet(2001) and it does state that Powertrain coverage includes wheel bearings listed under drivetrain. I stand corrected.

It's actually on page 5 under drivetrain per SEtuner. Powertrain coverage heading starts on page 4.

For those of you who have 2001 models, powertrain coverage details are listed on page 4 of the 2001 warranty booklet. Other years should be listed in the same area, page 4 or 5, but review your booklets because they lists detailed info.

you need to take it to a shop with the press, if you have that then it shouldnt be that hard. someone done a write up on it, but i dont have the tools or the press, but if its covered under warranty, then its free.
