Over-charged AC

My AC is over filled from a recharge, is there a way to solve this myself or is it best to just take it to a shop?

Take it to a shop and have them do a EVAC/Recharge of the system. How do you know if its overcharged ? Why did you charge it ?

The pressure was real low and the air wasnt very cold anymore, but to much got added when recharging it.

illegal way...

Um, illegal way.....go to the low pressure side, and use a screwdriver to let out a small burst of air/freon. Do this with the system running on high. Repeat until air gets cold. Double check pressure till it gets back into reasonable range with guage.

Just don't let anyone seeee you do this....

Checked the pressure after and it was in the overfill pressure range on the gauge.

Do th '00 still use freon? I thought car manufacturers stopped using that stuff a decade ago.

as i said in the previous post, continue the process untill it gets back in normal operating range. You may get some r134 on your paint so wipe it off, and keep it off your skin, or bag the area.....

i called 134 freon, I'm old school like that

Anyway, use short bursts followed by checks till it gets down into the acceptable range. Wear eye protection, and be careful! This WILL work, unless there is something seriously wrong with your system.

I did it on my 95 and it worked great. It just wasn't getting as cold as it used to so I got a can of R134 with a hose and gague. I followed the instructions and it would freeze me out the rest of the time I owned it.

This was a black car with black leather and I live in Florida. Even in the middle of summer it would get so cold I'd have to raise the temperature setting.

ITs a 2001 SE w/ 72,000 miles. Could someone please guide me how I can find out if I even eeed a recharge? I have never done this before so I dont even know where the stuff is located under the hood and what guage/filling device I need to buy. Thanks.
