evap cuase big mpg change?

I forgot the code, but my SES light is on because of some evap problem. My last highway trip was 23mpg, this was doing 65-70. City I usually get around 18mpg. Tires have enough air in them.

Going to try to get code checked tommorow.

I ususally get 24 city, 27 highway. If you're getting 18 or less, you have issues. Yes, an EVAP air leak does kill gas milage. I've been down that road.

EVAP =
The emission control system that prevents the escape of fuel vapors from a vehicle's fuel system. Fuel vapors are routed by hoses to a charcoal canister for storage. Later, when the engine is running a purge control valve opens allowing intake vacuum to siphon the fuel vapors into the engine.

damn, then that means that my broken charcoal canister inlet might be causing a bit of mileage loss?

If the canister is broken, but no check engine light for evap leak then no. If you have an evap leak (more than likely) then yes
