What exhaust set ups sound good on this car?

Alright i know theres a lot of exhaust stickies with links and videos in them, and ive listened but it doesnt cover everything. I have a 3.0 but opinions on both systems would be appreciated, i have a stock exhaust with the resonator cut out and am wondering what kinds of system that work best, and that people have had the best experience/gotten complimented.

I want a deeper sound, not too much of a drone but more of a deep sound thats decently louder than stock. Not obnoxious but noticable. I'm asking cause i know theres a lot of mufflers out there that sound good and i dont know too much about it. Like does anybody use Borla or Flowmaster or are they just for big cars, and what about Magnaflow? I know Frankencar makes one, and Cattman and Stillen do but they are pricey, is it worth it? I also want some power gains too so i'm looking at y-pipes in addition to a rear section. Do they change the sound if you have an aftermarket muffler? I know cattman makes those too, is it worth the money or should i go with a budget/ebay pipe? Not too sure about headers, probly keep that stock especially since i have a cali-spec car. Also would it be better to have the resonator put back in if i get a Y and rear section, dont want it THAT loud. Well sorry for the long thread but any input you guys could give would be great, thanks a lot

i went with frankencar due to the low sound output, u want soemthing noticeable id say stay away from frankencar, i love it, but i like it kinda mellow. id look more towards cattman.

one thing about getting a more $$$ exhaust system was the fitment, just bolt up and fit like a dream, im really picky, i couldnt stand having something off center, or banging on things or things liek that.

check the stickys theys sound clips, also check the 4th gen forums i think theres more there too.

Start with the Y-Pipe or headers first, then the cat, then the B-Pipe... If you still are not happy get a muffler.

I liked my full exhaust but it just was too loud for everyday driving and the constant comments from people in my car asking what was wrong with my car...

I have found that my Headers+ HF Cat+ Cattman B-Pipe+ Stock Muffler sounds nice. Much more aggresive than stock, but not annoying like the Cattman Muffler got...

FYI. I had JUST the Cattman muffler on with the rest of the exhaust stock - it sounds stock at 3000+ rpms but low end it has a nice mellow growl.

After I got the y-pipe, test-pipe, and b-pipe on, oh snap - it sounded SOOOO much louder. Honestly it sounds like a 4 cylinder from idle-2500rpm. after that it kinda sounds like a Skyline.

I know he already has an intake...but its still louder than stock..regardless...if anything, the idle is the most quietest...under load its louder...and at WOT is the loudest...if you compare it to stock that is...

Headers are always a good bang for the buck option. They will help give you a deeper sound more effectively than anything else and will give you a bit of improved torq to boot.

I have the HotShot headers and I love them!

To avoid 10,000 pm's, yes HotShot headers fit a 00-01 3.0. You have to move the front primary o2 sensor and if you have a 2000 you will have an EGR that needs to be connected to the rear manifold.

Depends on your exhaust set-up... I had a full cattman catback and it made it much louder. With a stock muffler back on, it is not that loud at all.
