Hestitation during acceleration

Our 2k Max just started this strange thing. When the car is cold it seems to hesistate while accelerating from a stop. It goes away after the car is running for a few minutes.

The check engine light is not on.

Anybody have any ideas what this could be? (and how much?)

Thanks in advance!!
Mike

eh i know my car and some other maxima's have shifting problems on a cold engine, ive spoke up to nissan about that issue and they said that it is normal. all nissan's should have a warm engine before driving, and our maxima's really warm up quickly. im assuming this could also be a transmission issue and i wouldn't worry about it much IMO.

but it would help to know is the hesistation a slight hesistation or a large one?

Thanks for your help. hopefully its not the tranny - however why it would be the tranny? Does the car start in 2nd? Just curious.
Its not a big hesitation - RPM sticks at 1200 for a few seconds and then kind of kicks....
Let me know what you think.

Thanks!!

Could it possibly be a bad MAF sensor? Very common problem on the 2000.

I just saw the MAF Sensor thread - it definitely sounds like a MAF issue.
Thank G-d not going to cost too much - I think the thread said it would be a 150 max with reprogam...... or I can just do it myself..

Thanks again!!!

This is NOT a MAF issue. I've been dealing with this for a year or so and have replaced MAF, plugs, fuel filter, done fuel injector cleanings, etc. If you search the threads, many others have mentioned this problem. I haven't seen a solution yet - can we make one of these threads a sticky!!?? Someone has to have solved this problem by now!!!

I think it is normal like what Nissan told that guy above. My car also does this, 80k miles, new MAF sensor installed about 5 months ago. Whenever the engine is cold, my car hesitates to go unless I punch it a little bit. After warm-up, it's gone. I usually let my car warm up for about 2-3 minutes every morning, or before I drive it during the day, and that usually lessens the problem.

Do yourself a favor and clean the MAF before you do anything else.

I'm somewhat getting the same problem. Under hard acceleration in 3rd gear around 4k rpms it feels like the tranny slips out of gear then catches again? its only happened once or twice but its definitely a notable loss of power. Feels like it gets pushed into neutral, freely rev's, then catches the same gear smoothly?

Oh yeah, I've also cleaned my throttle body - still occurs on cold starts.
